Your Tasks:

This role will be responsible for building, leading, and managing the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team to support the launch and lifecycle of the company's first CAR T-cell therapy. This individual will serve in a player/coach capacity, acting as both a leader and an active field-based MSL to establish relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and other stakeholders. The role will oversee scientific engagement, KOL development, field medical training, and data dissemination, ensuring that the MSL team delivers high-quality, compliant, and impactful scientific exchange.

This position will report into Medical Affairs and will work cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, and Pharmacovigilance to ensure alignment on medical strategy and execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing MSL team, ensuring field medical engagement aligns with company objectives and the needs of the CAR T-cell therapy community.
  • Serve as both a leader and an active field-based MSL, engaging directly with KOLs, academic institutions, and healthcare providers (HCPs) to communicate scientific data.
  • Develop and execute the MSL team's strategic plan, ensuring a focus on KOL engagement, scientific exchange, and medical education in support of the CAR T launch.
  • Establish strong partnerships with KOLs, treatment centers, and professional societies to support scientific understanding and clinical adoption of CAR T therapy.
  • Lead the development of field medical resources and training programs, ensuring MSLs are equipped with the latest clinical, scientific, and competitive intelligence.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and legal guidelines, including FDA, OIG, PhRMA, and company policies, in all field medical activities.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Development to provide real-world insights that inform trial design, patient selection strategies, and biomarker research.
  • Work closely with Medical Information and Pharmacovigilance to ensure appropriate safety reporting and seamless handling of unsolicited medical inquiries.
  • Partner with Market Access to provide medical insights that support payer engagement, health economics outcomes research (HEOR), and value demonstration.
  • Facilitate scientific education and internal training, ensuring cross-functional teams have a strong understanding of CAR T therapy, competitive landscape, and clinical positioning.
  • Monitor and assess the impact of MSL activities, using field insights to adapt strategies and optimize medical engagement.
  • Support post-launch activities, including investigator-initiated trials (IITs), real-world evidence (RWE) initiatives, and long-term data generation efforts.


Requirements:



  • MD, PharmD, or PhD in relevant life sciences discipline required; Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry within oncology, cell therapy, gene therapy, or rare diseases; or a combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience as an MSL launching and/or supporting the recent launch of a novel therapy, preferably in oncology, hematology, transplant, cell therapy, or gene therapy.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop MSL teams while also engaging in direct field-based activities.
  • Strong track record of KOL engagement and scientific exchange, with a deep understanding of the academic and clinical environment for CAR T or other advanced therapies.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, and Regulatory teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements governing MSL activities (FDA, OIG, PhRMA).

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (50% or more).

  • Deep scientific expertise in oncology, hematology, or cell therapy, with strong ability to translate complex data into clear insights.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to engage and influence KOLs and internal stakeholders.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to adapt to a rapidly evolving environment and develop scalable field medical strategies.
  • Highly collaborative approach, able to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams to align medical strategies with corporate objectives.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This job is performed in a variety of facilities. Each person performing this job must have a home office environment, which is temperature controlled. This job requires the person to be mobile to visit customer sites. Due to the travel requirements, this position may be exposed to natural elements of nature. Used research/clinical equipment may be handled in this job and strict SOPs and PPE must be worn.
