SUMMARY

Hennepin Healthcare has a current opening for a Plumber in our Facilities Maintenance department. This full-time role will work weekdays.

Under direction, an employee in this job class performs work of moderate difficulty in the installation and maintenance of gas, water, air, and related pipe systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Installs and repairs a wide variety of pipe systems, fittings, and fixtures, including water, waste, vent, air, gas, oxygen, and vacuum
  • Complete work orders and preventive maintenance to maintain the reliability of the plumbing environment
  • Inspects and tests plumbing systems to insure safety and efficient operation
  • Inspects and maintains all cross-connection and backflow devices to ensure a safe water system throughout the hospital
  • Maintain required records on all cross-connection and backflow devices that are periodically tested for reliability or replaced
  • Removes blockages from plugged sewer and waste lines
  • Repairs drains, grates and grease traps
  • Repairs bathroom and shower/tub room accessories such as towel racks, paper holders and soap dispensers
  • Performs special fabrication jobs
  • Maintain supplies, spare and tool inventory
  • Works with contractors to identify valve and pipe locations
  • Schedules shut downs and service interruptions
  • Inspects and tests medical gas systems to ensure a safe distribution system

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/ Work Experience:



  • Completion of an accredited plumber's apprenticeship program


OR



  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience.


Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:



  • Considerable knowledge of the tools and methods of the plumbing trade.
  • Considerable ability to read, interpret, and learn applicable building codes.
  • Considerable ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Considerable ability to exercise judgment in the selection of proper methods; tools, and materials.
  • Considerable skill in the selection and use of methods and tools in the installation and repair of pipe systems and related equipment.
  • Ability to perform work involving prolonged standing, bending, and stooping,
    often in close quarters


License/Certifications:



  • Minnesota Journeyman Plumber's license, a Minneapolis Certification of Competency and R.P.Z. license, and a Certificate of Medical Gas.


Qualification.



  • NOTE: An ASSE Certification in lieu of an R.P.Z. license is an acceptable substitute
  • NOTE: If a hire does not possess the Medical Gas Certification upon hire, they must receive this certification within 12 months of hire as a condition of continued employment
