Sr. Manager, Production Planning Management

As a Sr. Manager, Production Planning Management supporting Production Planning team, you will be trusted to be a strategic cross-functional partner delivering expertise based on your experience and knowledge of end to end supply chain. This will include oversight our site's buyer/planner team working across with commodities across various medical and device/diagnostic platforms and managing the site's Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process for manufacturing in liaison with our global teams at our Irvine, CA location.

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Develop, communicate, and manage Master Production Schedules and related planning activities.
  • Proactively manage risks and opportunities to ensure critical targets are met.
  • Negotiate supplier schedules, manufacturing constraints and logistics/transportation issues.
  • Manage finished goods inventory levels to support sales goals, attain customer service level goals, minimize backorders, and optimize inventory investment.
  • Initiate, approve, and manage purchase orders for inventory and projects, ensuring accurate costs, delivery instructions, and delivery dates.
  • Establish and lead regular and ad hoc teams and meetings involving representatives from suppliers and multiple disciplines within Alcon to ensure focus and provide direction.
  • Organize, facilitate, and lead multidiscipline teams to launch new products, facilitate changes to Bill of Materials, specs, artwork for existing products and support business goals related to 3rd party suppliers and Alcon affiliates.
  • Recommend and manage manufacturing site changes, capacity requirements changes, and capital investments to support strategic goals.
  • Champion and automate systems & processes to allow the Supply Chain to scale new products without adding infrastructure.
  • Support related materials activities for technology transfer in support of new product transfer and/or process enhancements.
  • Manage Analytics team translating user requirements into value-add metrics, dashboards and reports.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations and Engineering organizations on development/alignment on long term strategic plans.
  • Manage various budgets and create projects to attain targets on Inventory, PPV, Excess/Obsolete.
  • Act as a talent partner to engage and develop the materials team and enhance our culture of collaboration

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +15 yrs.; Assoc.+11 yrs.; M.S.+4 yrs.; PhD+3 yrs.)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English
  • 7 Years of Relevant Experience
  • 5 Years of Demonstrated Leadership

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Provide a fulfilling work experience that engages associates and enables strong performance.
  • Analytical/Data driven decision making, good communicator, interpersonal skills, tactical/strategic thinker
  • Technical Skills - Knowledge of SAP, BI, OBP, MES is a plus
  • Ability to translate user specifications into metrics, dashboards
  • Business modeling for scenario planning such as Long-Term-Planning
  • Experience working at a manufacturing site
  • Project management experience
  • Strong business acumen
  • Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • High learning agility
  • Develop and communicate annual budgets for each product and supplier.
  • Hire, train, coach, develop and evaluate associates
