Essential duties and responsibilities:
* Manage and operate the Control Board (Console) to ensure safe, reliable, and environmentally sound operations on the assigned shift.
* Make and implement operational decisions on a 24 / 7 / 365 basis, strictly adhering to Federal regulations and Energy Transfer standards of operational integrity and respect for public safety.
* Act as the single point of contact for the terminal during evenings, weekends, and holiday periods, taking responsibility for managing emergencies during these off shifts.
* Responsible for maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of all board operating procedures.
* Analyze operational anomalies and problems, identify solutions, and implement corrective actions
* Perform assignments independently and set his/her own priorities, changing those priorities as operations dictate.
* Supervise hourly shift team
* Exercise stop work authority to shut down or divert systems at any given time when conditions warrant.
* Direct appropriate field personnel to investigate potential problems and provide timely feedback on the situation.
* In crisis situations, assume control for initiating the necessary actions in responding to the situation, including contact with the general public and/or local emergency departments.
* Train and actively participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT)
* Serve occasionally as field supervisor (work outside)
* Review and approve payroll for employees in accordance with Company guidelines and in accordance with Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Minimum 8 years of industry experience in refining or pipeline operations.
* Prior experience leading a team in a unionized environment.
* Requires wide knowledge and application of principles, theories and concepts in the field plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines.
* Knowledge of industry safety practices and relevant codes.
* Strong verbal and written communications skills; good organizational skills.
* Must have well developed PC skills, (Microsoft Office, SAP etc.)
* Position is assigned to a rotating 12 hour schedule
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
* Must possess a valid driver's license
Preferred Education
* Associates or Bachelors degree, highly preferred.
