The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary Reporting directly to the AVP of Engineering in the CUIMC Facilities Department. This position will manage the current controls engineers and associated central supervisory control systems for university buildings and the energy master plan and the CUIMC campus' sustainability goals. Responsibilities Primary responsibility of this position is to reduce campus energy use while maintaining comfortable and safe environmental conditions within university buildings. To accomplish this responsibility, the successful candidate must create/utilize an energy metering program to track energy use for individual campus buildings and determine the best opportunities for energy reduction projects. Energy projects need to be developed from the initial survey through project justification, funding, execution, and verification of energy savings. Ensure that the University is receiving the best value for its capital dollars for HVAC controls on new construction and renovation projects, and that existing controls are operating at optimum efficiency. Grow and lead the Energy and Sustainability program to reach carbon reduction goals. Establish and coordinate communication of goals, best practices, and accomplishments. Good personal and customer service skills are required to interact with facilities engineers, project managers, building occupants, maintenance personnel, and design professionals. The person in this position will be expected to stay current in the building HVAC control field and be able to innovatively apply new technologies in the pursuit of better environmental conditions that use minimal energy. Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience. This position requires the understanding of commercial/industrial and healthcare HVAC building controls including their design, installation, operation, and maintenance. Analytical skills are needed to acquire energy data, analyze it, and develop energy reduction strategies from the data. Understanding of engineering economics is required to determine project economic benefits and costs for evaluation of new projects. Preferred Qualifications This position requires an undergraduate degree in engineering or related field and 5 years experience in HVAC controls and energy efficiency improvement projects. The physical requirements are that the candidate must be able to inspect controls in mechanical penthouses that sometimes are only accessible by built in ladders; must be able to see and hear emergencies when in these mechanical spaces; and must be able to inspect contractor work in buildings - including work above ceilings. This position requires working with electrical circuits and on limited occasions there will be some outdoor work.
