Software Development Engineer- Operations, Dyno Nobel Inc., Simsbury, CT:

Design software systems and process flows to be integrated in manufacturing and test systems of the operations department. Develop and write critical software components and interfaces. Interface with custom or OEM hardware through software. Keep abreast of global developments in Internet and software technology to provide direction with regard to software development. Interface with the engineering department and advise, where applicable, of the impact of any proposed changes relating to detonator testing throughout the global testing pipeline. Design and develop user friendly interfaces such as web front ends. Design and develop database structures ensuring efficient data capture and retrieval. Provide on-going support on both a scheduled and adhoc basis for all test equipment systems deployed across the globe. Support will include installation, commissioning, repair and maintenance related activities. Ensure all software is version controlled and only implemented via engineering change request. Ensure data from all sites are backed up on a daily basis. Interface with third party software packages used for data analysis. Assist with all regional control equipment queries.

Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week, $145,995.00 per year.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field and 8 years of work experience in Software Development. Alternatively will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field and 6 years of work experience in Software Development.

Must have 6 years of experience in all of the following:

  • C (Using GCC compiler, on both Atmel AVR processors and Linux operating systems);

  • Real time embedded operating systems and principles;

  • PHP, Javascript and HTML based web development;

  • Perl;

  • Structured Query Language;

  • Linux server administration;

  • Bar-coding standards and traceability systems;

  • Detonator Assembly Plant related hardware and software;

  • Blasting system control equipment;

  • Electronics and hardware interfaces to develop software to interface to various custom and OEM hardware products; and

  • Web programming and SQL relational database skills.

Travel: International travel required up to 10%; Domestic travel required up to 10%.
