Responsibilities

State Farm is seeking a data-minded, software engineering candidate to help enable a simplified, seamless, efficient, and personalized "omni-channel" customer experience across all internal and external State Farm interaction channels. Our team is growing and we are excited about adding two (2) additional software engineers in the Insights & Interactions Hub (IIH) product suite within the Enterprise Technology Department. The primary role of the product suite is to ensure a user's digital journey is represented properly in data for reporting, analytics and optimization efforts. This position works horizontally across multiple product teams to enable collection of user experience data needed for analytic insights on product functionality. The product suite provides a great opportunity to learn about behavior analytics and building a comprehensive data trail of the journey for customers and associates, as well as, exposure to many different applications and technologies used by various product teams in the organization.

Our team is enabling a new way of data collection on State Farm digital properties. Our three (3) focus areas include front end JavaScript, AWS services (Lambda, S3, SNS/SQS, ECS, Redis Cache), and APIs to enable the collection and exchange of data and more.

The ideal candidate will have an eagerness to work through product development during various stages of ambiguity/uncertainty. Applicants are required to have a creative mindset, innovative spirit, and a demonstrated ability to harness the possibilities of technology.



Qualifications

Necessary Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of software development experience
  • Frontend JavaScript development
  • Experience with AWS tech stack (Lambda, CloudFront, Route53, Eventing Frameworks (SNS, SQS), S3, API gateway, Load Balancing, VPS, Subnets, Security Groups)
  • Knowledge of building AWS infrastructure using Terraform
  • Knowledge of version control, CI/CD pipeline, Unit testcases and DevOps
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical knowledge effectively
  • Demonstrated learning agility and the desire for continuous growth inside and outside of current role
  • Ability to apply broad technical acumen and experience to an iterative delivery approach.
  • A strong drive for results.
  • Ability to adapt and foster innovation, encourage diversity of thought, and incorporate new ideas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • GIT, GitHub, GitLab, etc. around continuous integration and continuous delivery infrastructure
  • Containers & container based APIs using a container frameworks Docker or Kubernetes
  • API development experience using Java, Spring boot
  • Experience with web page tagging/tracking, native Android and iOS application tagging, script development & testing, jQuery development, Java Script, .CSS manipulation, HTML, Browsers (Chrome, FireFox, Edge, etc.) & Developer Tools, Single Page Architecture such as Ember, Angular, React, etc.

  • Potential starting salary range: $85,500 - $135,000
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
