A Systems Engineer job in Jamestown, North Dakota is currently available at Belcan to support our customer's cargo handling systems development. To be considered for this role, you will have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Analysis or similarly related Engineering plus more than 3 years of experience as a Systems Engineer. The individual has the opportunity to participate in the full life cycle development of advanced cargo handling systems which help to quickly load and place cargo on the aircraft, typically fixed wing and rotary aircraft. The Systems Engineer works with a multi-faceted team that develops and integrates components such as ball transfer units, power drive units, control systems, freighter common turntables, centerline restraints, bumpers and other peripheral components. These components work together to convey and secure cargo within an aircraft for fast and easy loading and unloading.
Job Duties:
* Design and manage requirements for development of advanced cargo handling systems - including Power System, Electrical System and component level design
* Perform verification and validation related activities - assure requirements are testable, develop test cases, procedures, testing and test results
* Perform integration related activities with multiple components, including 3rd party related components
* Support and manage system load and stress analysis related requirements
* Support mock-up and prototype related development testing to validate design requirements
* Support system safety and/or reliability related design activities
* Support end customer design reviews and other engagements on behalf of the customer
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Analysis or similarly related Engineering
* More than 3 years of experience as a systems engineer, preferably in support of rotary wing platforms.
* Familiarity with power system development and/or control systems developments in a regulatory approval based environment and managing requirements using a configuration controlled database
* Self starter and ability to operate autonomously in a fast paced development environment
* Hands on experience with prototype and mock-up development for risk mitigation and concept validation
* Previous experience in supporting a design and analysis team in load estimation, lifing or similar analysis
* Experience with software applications usingC, C++, C#, NI LabVIEW, NI TestStand, or other test software programming languages.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
* Experience with A664 communications
* Experience with reliability, maintainability and safety related requirements development and analysis
* Experience with Polarion is highly preferred
* Hands on experience with integration, testing and artifact development for cargo handling systems on freighters or similar airborne platforms.
* Python experience is preferred
