Purpose of the Position:

The Division Engineer is responsible for monitoring safety and FRA compliance. You will have 5-6 Roadmasters reporting directly to you. The Division Engineer has a territory covering Shreveport, LA over to Dallas and ends Laredo, TX.

Position Accountabilities:

  • Plans and implements accurate job procedures to promote safe work practices
  • Works with Purchasing to develop contracts for track repair
  • Responsible for administration of safety action plan for Track department
  • Develop and complete annual safety plans
  • Stays within budgets
  • Implement work in alignment with labor agreements
  • Solicits quotes from equipment and material suppliers and purchasing to ensure the best price and availability
  • Customer service focus and prioritization to meet partner expectations
  • Understands the relevant business metrics and applies them to develop a culture of operational efficiency that builds teams of high performing, engaged and empowered operational leaders
  • Identifies when a rule/regulation policy has been violated and has one-on-one accountability conversations with the individual who has not met expectations
  • Accountable for the investigation of train accidents in main track and sidings, including the timely filing of cause
  • Ensure infrastructure damage costs are reported and consistent with regulations for all train accidents

Position requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college is preferred, preferably in a job-related major field of study
  • Minimum ten (10) years of relevant Railroad work experience, including leading and handling sophisticated projects or programs with outcome-focused work you're doing, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of managerial experience

Medical Requirements:

CPKC is committed to the safety and health of its employees and the general public. This position is a safety /sensitive position; all new hires will be required to complete a pre-employment medical that includes a physical, vision, hearing, alcohol, and drug audit assessments. Qualification drug test(s) are also required.

The successful candidate will need to successfully complete the following clearances:

  • Criminal history check
  • Reference check
  • Driver's License Verification
  • Last 3 years of driving history
  • Last 7 years of employment history; includes military service
  • Social Security number verification

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
