Maintenance Leader - Baler
1st shift (6:30am to 2:30pm) Monday through Friday GENERAL SUMMARY: Under general supervision, operates specialized equipment in the sorting and baling of recyclable material and disposal of trash. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential functions may include the following task, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. This list is illustrative only and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents of this job. *Knowledge of recyclable paper grades and types of material allowed in each grade. *Direct the activities of 4 full time and up to 8 temporary associates engaged in the recycle operation. *Operates equipment and other machinery in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures. *Inspects incoming materials as required, sorts by grade and waste stream. *Operates forklift and baler as required; unloads bales from the baler and loads bales on vendor trailer; cleans equipment and facility. *Inspects, adjusts, cleans and assist in the repair of the equipment used in the baler operation. *Schedule loads of recyclable material for shipment to appropriate recycler. *Ensures the quality and integrity of each bale for grade and structural strength. *Schedule the pickup of full dumpsters for delivery to the landfill. *Maintains records of all activity in the baler operation. *Provide training as needed for backup and temporary associates. *Performs other related duties as assigned. *Maintains Communications with upper Management and Vendors Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: *Good communication skills *Proficient with a calculator *Team oriented. *Microsoft Word *Microsoft Outlook PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The characteristics listed below are representative of the physical demands required by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
