Honeybee Robotics, a subsidiary of Blue Origin LLC, has been at the forefront of robotics for over 40 years, establishing ourselves as pioneers in developing novel exploration systems for the most extreme planetary environments. At our Altadena, CA location, we look to "Touch Life" by supporting planetary science, including every NASA Mars rover since Spirit and Opportunity. We aim to "Mine the Sky" through the development of practical In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU) solutions. We search for technically brilliant individuals in engineering, software, and support fields who take ownership of their work, enjoy collaborating in teams, and have a laser focus on the details that drive excellence.

Our Altadena team is seeking candidates to join our cooperative education program with a focus on mechanical or electrical engineering. In the role, your daily responsibilities will involve actively supporting the design, development, fabrication, and testing of various mechanical, electromechanical, and/or electrical systems. You will have the opportunity to learn through hands-on experience and make a tangible, positive contribution to our technology development efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Support systems design, development, fabrication, and testing of various mechanical and/or electrical systems.
  • Embrace a hands-on learning approach and aspire to make a meaningful and impactful contribution to product development.
  • Draft, update, and procure with technical documents (mechanical part drawings, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, etc).
  • Original part design and/or selection of commercially available off-the-shelf components.

Required Qualifications:

  • To qualify for this position, you must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience working with hardware: mechanical assembly, electrical workmanship (soldering, crimping), etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint).

Desired Qualifications:

  • Completion of a course or experience in one or more of the following areas: Strength of Materials, Statics/Dynamics, Microcontroller programming, Fundamentals of Analog Electronics, Basic Control Theory, Digital Circuit Design, Motor Control.

Pay range - The compensation for on-site CA applicants is $28.67 - $38.00 hourly.

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $22.50-$31.50
