Job Summary |
The Alabama Cooperative Extension System is seeking a Media Production Specialist to join a dynamic and innovative statewide team working to improve the health and lives of Alabamians. The Media Production Specialist will provide expertise for the design, marketing, and social media strategies for Alabama Extension's Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (
EFNEP) team.
This position will be housed and supervised within Alabama Extension's Communications, Strategic Marketing, and Client Relations department and will work under the guidance of the
EFNEP leadership team made up of subject matter specialists and program leadership.

Essential Functions |
- Designs and produces content for dissemination through a variety of mediums such as internal and external publications, brochures, posters, newsletters, websites, presentations, development/fundraising materials, press packages, and news media through collaborative work with the Communications, Strategic Marketing, and Client Relations unit.
- Coordinates the production of materials to include content/style editing, designing, printing, photography, videos, and/or copywriting.
- Ensure cohesive, creative, and visually appealing design elements across all communication and programmatic materials.
- Develops marketing and communication plans to promote vision, mission, goals, and achievements of the EFNEP team. Monitor the reach and effectiveness of communication strategies, creating media reports, and recommending improvements for future endeavors.
- Manage social media and web communications, including coordination of campaigns, creation of content, oversight of schedules, and reporting key performance indicators.
- Coordinates marketing calendars, production schedules, deadlines, including the work carried out by external vendors.
- Collaborate with Alabama Extension's Communications, Strategic Marketing & Client Relations unit to develop materials that reflect mission while adhering to departmental guidelines and brand standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop content and identify future stories and areas of importance.
- Collaborate with the EFNEP team members to develop, implement, and support communication efforts and products.
- Represent the EFNEP team in external communication and promotional events as needed.
- Focus on increasing awareness of EFNEP programs, communicating their relevance and impact to diverse audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Film or Television Production, Computer Graphics or a related field
Level I- Bachelor's degree
Level II- Bachelor's degree plus 2 year of experience providing creative, technical, or support services for various medias.
Level III- Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience providing creative, technical, or support services for various medias.
Substitutions allowed for Experience: Graduate degrees accepted in lieu of experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience. |
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications
Minimum Skills and Abilities |
- Proficiency in graphic design software and multimedia tools.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite is needed, especially Photoshop. Understanding of current and evolving media technologies.
- Knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of design, marketing, and social media; public relations campaigns.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and social media management software.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- The selected individual must possess the ability to work effectively and in a positive manner while providing excellent customer service.
- The successful candidate must have the ability to maintain diplomacy at all times, possess a high level of professionalism, be customer service driven and flexible in attitude.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and manage multiple priorities.
- The successful candidate must meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States by the start date and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
- Ability to drive department vehicles and rental vehicles (alone or with other department staff members) to perform job responsibilities as occasional travel is required.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends if necessary in order to meet deadlines.
