Management of the Account Management and Service Consultant staff for the UnitedHealth Care Key Accounts within Employer & Individual responsible for customer retention and NBEA (National Business Education Association) sales in the 100 to 5,000+ employee range. Responsible for the overall sale of NBEA business and the retention of existing accounts.

This position will be hybrid in the St. Louis, Missouri office on average 3 days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

Management:



  • Manage and monitor client assignments
  • Training of account management staff, new hire and ongoing
  • Maintain an acceptable level of persistency in team's book of business
  • Personnel development and management
  • Set team strategy to achieve goals
  • Direct and manage service plan



Relationship Building:



  • Build and maintain key client and producer relationships
  • Develop and maintain key internal relationships
  • Present a positive image of UnitedHealth Group to the marketplace



Product Knowledge:



  • Detailed understanding of all UnitedHealth Care products, services and solutions across all health plan sites
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise/ancillary product lines
  • Ability to identify and communicate the need for improvements in UnitedHealth Care products and services



Healthcare Knowledge:



  • Understands and can communicate goals, operating principles, strategies and competitive position of UnitedHealth Care
  • In-depth healthcare knowledge, understands important trends
  • Demonstrates knowledge of competitors strengths, weaknesses and strategies
  • Understands medical management operations and strategies



Financial and Underwriting:



  • Understands financing methodologies and strategies (fully insured, ASO)
  • Thorough knowledge of UnitedHealth Care underwriting principles and practices
  • Possesses basic math skills
  • Can explain and justify a renewal rate to customers
  • Understands and can communicate the drivers of healthcare costs
  • Understands the drivers of fees and liabilities



Internal Operations & Capabilities:



  • Understands UnitedHealth Care information systems capabilities and strategies (COSMOS, UNET)
  • Ability to navigate UnitedHealth Care internal departments to produce positive service results for clients and the company
  • Extensive knowledge of internal people, roles/responsibilities and processes

Required Qualifications:



  • Active insurance license, or acquire any required licenses within first 30 days of being in the job; must maintain current license requirements thereafter
  • 7+ years of relevant sales experience in healthcare
  • 7+ years of working with brokers/consultants
  • 7+ years of experience meeting sales goals/targets
  • 7+ years of experience using data analysis to drive change
  • 5+ years proficiency in Microsoft suite including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • Maintain driver's license and access to reliable transportation
  • Willing and able to travel 25% depending on business need
  • Reside within commutable distance to St. Louis, Missouri



The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $160,000 annually based on full-time employment. Role is also eligible to receive bonuses based on sales performance. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
