This position is responsible for filling the physician staffing needs of UMass Memorial Medical Group, member hospitals and community-based physician practices. This position is responsible for sourcing qualified physicians nationally through utilization of multiple networks such as on-line computer databases, literature searches and responses to advertisement in appropriate professional journals. This position will establish relationships with internal and external resident program heads nationally to identify and recruit potential candidates.

I. Major Responsibilities:

1 (20%). Collaborates and consults with the hiring physician to develop a specific recruitment plan and makes ongoing suggestions/updates to the plan as required.
2 (30%). Identifies most qualified physician talent nationally through utilization of networks, on-line computer databases, literature searches and responses to advertisements in appropriate professional journals and other media.
3 (5%). Develops advertising copy and mailing information for targeted marketing plans.
4 (10%). Establishes and maintains working relationships with internal and external resident program heads nationally to identify and recruit potential candidates. Develops and delivers presentations with the UMASS Medical School Office of Graduate Medical Education for internal residents and fellows on career development programs.
5 (10%). Conducts prescreening calls to candidates to determine suitability for specific openings. Evaluates pertinent information and makes recommendations to department heads based on initial screening. Prepares written evaluation of all candidates pre-screened.
6 (10%). Serves as the primary contact for physicians throughout the recruitment process, including coordination of the interview and travel arrangements. Provides guidance and assistance/counsel as needed. Provides candidates with any needed information such as cultural, educational, job-related, housing, etc., to facilitate their evaluation of the job and area. Identifies key factors influencing a candidate's career or personal decision making and helps link those needs to specific benefits available in Central Massachusetts or organization.
7 (5%). Communicates regularly about candidates to the Medical Group and other key stakeholders. Obtains list of references and conducts initial reference information when asked. Prepares and maintains records of all candidates contacted, interviewed, accepted, or rejected in connection with requirements of EEO/AA regulations.

In addition to the above, standard management level responsibilities may include directing and supervising assigned personnel, conducting performance appraisals, scheduling and training. Makes decisions on hiring, transfers, firing, budget, and departmental goals. Carries out entity and system level strategy, fosters a culture of continuous improvement, and promotes the standards of respect. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and all health and safety programs.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
2. Valid Massachusetts driver's license with a good driving record.
Preferred:
Experience/Skill:
Required:
1. One to three years executive level experience in professional/physician recruitment.
2. Must have motor vehicle and willingness to transport candidates on a regular basis.
3. Strong computer technology skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and an ability to conduct Internet research in an efficient, productive manner.
4. Ability to communicate and interact with professionals at all levels.
Preferred:
1. Bilingual.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies, including age-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description.Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
