Overview Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, enable the deployment and adoption of bulk energy storage systems, and scale adoption of all distributed energy resource interconnection for our customers. This is a great role to demonstrate your ability to drive results, apply cross-disciplinary skills to the clean energy space, collaborate closely with diverse teams, meaningfully support customers, and gain firsthand experience with the clean energy transition.The Strategy Manager- DER Interconnection will support the Energy Storage and Distribution Planning teams' work focused on long-term energy storage and DER interconnection processes. They will be responsible for implementing strategic engagement with internal and external stakeholders, driving strategic alignment around process improvements, providing upfront support to developers, and performing data analytics to support long-term planning and grid analysis. These analyses will allow the Company to identify emerging trends, monitor customer progress, pinpoint common bottlenecks and inform data-driven process improvements.The manager will be a motivated, strategic thinker who leads complex operational and financial analyses, manages strategic initiatives in a broad and rapidly evolving business environment to implement the clean energy vision for the regulated utility. In addition, this position will focus on potential industry changes for an evolving power grid for New York and emerging energy storage technologies. This includes providing more information to stakeholders about system needs to direct customer solutions in areas where they will have the greatest benefit to the system and our customers, developing the Company roadmap for future DER interconnection policy and advocating for innovative technologies. Further, the Manager will support regulatory, technology, and data analytics work to ensure the grid's capabilities can support the coming transition and New York State's CLCPA mandates clean energy goals.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities
- Identify new business opportunities aligned with strategic objectives, develop business cases and implementation plans to facilitate Company energy storage and State CLCPA goals.
- Lead the Companys efforts to develop and communicate Utility Dispatch Rights (UDR) storage and DER interconnection policies, including hosting stakeholder sessions and conducting customer outreach and education activities
- Support long-term planning and analysis of grid implications and coordinate efforts among Storage, Distribution Generation, and Flexible Demand teams.
- Lead data analysis around DER interconnections and associated cost estimation. These analytics will allow the Company to identify emerging trends, monitor customer progress to identify bottlenecks and pinpoint data-driven improvement.
- Support technical innovation required to add more DER and energy storage solutions to the grid. These innovations will include a robust review of existing procedures and standardization of engineering offerings, such as piloting new high-tension equipment and modernizing our DER procedures to reduce DER integration costs.
- Provide additional support to developers on interconnection and technology options for specific circuits and projects.
- Manage development of the Companys roadmap for further DER integration to ensure regulatory and technical policies align and grid capabilities can support the clean energy transition
- Engage with external stakeholders, such as PSC, NYSERDA, Joint Utilities, and other market participants.
- Lead tasks related to authoring white papers, rate case filings, and other regulatory filings.
- Commit to the ideals of developing a proactive, customer-centric culture to foster trust and confidence among customers (both internal and external) and improve value for all our stakeholders.

Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Finance, Economics, or related field and 5 years work experience in Energy, Engineering, Finance, Corporate Strategy, or Management Consulting or
- Master's Degree MBA or equivalent business degree and 4 years of related work experience
Relevant Work Experience
- Proven leadership skills, innovation, and ability to adapt to change, required.
- Knowledge and experience in energy market modeling including capacity, energy, and ancillary services values and NY State incentive structures, required.
- Must have work experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or strategic finance role, required.
- Experience analyzing information, either technical or financial, and making recommendations based on that information and analysis, required.
- Demonstrate strong business acumen with knowledge of business operations in the areas of utility planning, renewable project development, business case analysis, and corporate strategy development, required.
- Knowledge of clean energy technologies and business models with demonstrated experience leading strategy development and business alignment, required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrated by experience in facilitating cross-functional meetings, crafting and delivering presentations to internal and external stakeholders, including executive audiences, required.
- Ability to conduct presentations to audiences of senior utility leaders, government stakeholders, and energy thought leaders, required.
- Ability to do both independent, rigorous research and also contribute to a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment is essential, required.
- Strong knowledge of computer applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Projects), required.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and distill data and information into business insights, and effectively communicate insights in meetings, presentations, and in writing. Prior experience working with or for electric or gas utilities and understanding of business model, preferred.
