Job Summary

The Data Analyst II designs and validates survey instruments to measure satisfaction and engagement within higher education, applying advanced statistical techniques in R and SPSS to analyze complex data relationships. They ensure data integrity through rigorous management procedures and conduct psychometric evaluations to confirm the quality of measurements. Additionally, the analyst prepares comprehensive reports and presentations to effectively communicate findings, providing consultation to university departments on best practices in survey design and data analysis.

  • Designs, develops, and validates survey instruments to assess student, faculty, and staff satisfaction, engagement, and other relevant constructs within the higher education context, utilizing established psychometric principles.
  • Applies advanced statistical techniques (e.g., factor analysis, structural equation modeling, hierarchical linear modeling) in R and SPSS to analyze survey data and explore complex relationships between variables related to higher education outcomes.
  • Develops and implements data management procedures to ensure data integrity and accuracy, including data cleaning, transformation, and preparation for statistical analysis, with a focus on survey data structures.
  • Conducts psychometric evaluation of survey instruments, including reliability and validity analyses, to ensure the quality and accuracy of measurement.
  • Utilizes R for statistical modeling and data visualization to effectively communicate research findings to diverse audiences, including faculty, administrators, and stakeholders.
  • Employs SPSS for descriptive and inferential statistical analyses to address research questions related to higher education satisfaction and related outcomes.
  • Prepares comprehensive research reports and presentations summarizing findings from survey data analyses, including methodological details and interpretations of results.
  • Provides consultation and support to university departments and stakeholders on survey design, administration, and data analysis best practices.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of institutional effectiveness initiatives through the application of survey research and data analysis.
  • Designs and implements data collection protocols for surveys, ensuring high response rates and representative samples.
  • Project lead in the design, administration, and reporting of institutional surveys, including those related to student experiences, faculty satisfaction, and program evaluations.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two (2) years of appropriate experience or a Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization.
Desired Qualifications

  • Use of SPSS, SAS, MS Excel and/or Access for analysis and report creation.
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis techniques and statistical concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with database systems.
