We're looking for a VP, Specialty Services to join our Day & Zimmermann team.

The VP of Specialty Services is responsible for leading and growing the Specialty Services group, which includes Radiological Protection, Valves, Welding, Security, Ice and Coatings. This position will be responsible for leading the operations and execution of capital projects and maintenance & operations work in the Specialty Service markets to align with the boarder organization goals. Responsible for P&L and all aspects of the relationship between the customer and DZ MC business cross functional teams and for taking the necessary actions to improve and strengthen those relationships. Works to establish and maintain programs and processes to support the work.

As the VP, Specialty Services, here's the work you'll do:


  • Lead and oversee the execution of all work in the Specialty Services markets. Develop and implement a business strategy to successfully establish the business group across business lines effectively achieving safety, financial, operational, and customer retention goals for work with clients.
  • Partner with Business Development and leverage/maintain existing relationships with internal and external customers and contractors and grow to a significant D&Z line of business. Perform market research to qualify new business growth opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with client's key stakeholders. Proactively interacts with key stakeholders to understand and respond to their needs (current and future). Exhibits extraordinary responsiveness in meeting customer needs and expectations.
  • Develop and implement processes to ensure strong program and project governance - initiation, planning, execution, status reporting, financials, stakeholder management, resource management, risks, issues, dependencies and prioritization
  • Effectively work with functional areas to achieve shared goals, problem-solve conflicts and establish/promote best practices. Work closely with Business Development in monitoring and evaluating market opportunities with a focus on market and client development
  • Identify, attract, develop, and retain talent through effective employee engagement, communication, and performance management.



This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Industry Expertise- Demonstrated background in specialty services including familiarity with the various codes and standards governing operations. Strong knowledge and experience in project management. Can execute both projects and O&M scopes of work.
  • Operations Savvy- Action oriented; can be counted on to consistently exceed goals; bottom-line oriented; clearly assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions; pushes others for results and holds them accountable; works through others to achieve results; maintains big-picture view of key projects and initiatives without getting lost in the details.
  • Business/Financial Acumen- Understands how the business works including drivers of cost and revenue; able to understand and work with key financial measurements to analyze the business; able to develop actions to correct financial performance; knows the marketplace and understands how business strategies and tactics impact marketplace perception. Ability to put together a strategy that establishes organizational goals and defines measures to ensure achievement of goals.
  • Builds Strategic Client Relationships- Develops and sustains effective long-term business relationships with people, especially at senior levels (internally and externally) to create value and influence customer buying patterns and increase sales revenue growth and market share.
  • Communicates with Impact- Clearly and consistently gets information across in a timely and effective manner both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates the ability to influence people and get them to take appropriate action.


And if you have these qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 15+ years of previous experience with specialty services activities in the nuclear and fossil power industries.



In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $209,698 - $314,547. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
