Network Monitoring Technician (Morning Shift)

Evoke is seeking a Network Operations Center (NOC) / Integrated Monitoring Center (IMC) Technician to join our team!

**This is a 1st shift position (6:00am - 2:30pm)** Work is required to be performed on-site in NE Washington, DC (near Union Station)

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct continuous monitoring, analysis, and reporting activities of network infrastructure and systems for performance, availability, and potential issues.
  • Provide shift support-based work, ensuring 24x7x365 coverage and support at the client site
  • Monitor systems and applications including high and low-level network-wide performance monitoring
  • Escalate critical issues to appropriate teams and management as required
  • Act as the first alert responder for incidents identified by SolarWinds or Dynatrace monitoring tools.
  • Gather all applicable data for analytics
  • Coordinate with NSOC to collaborate on networks/systems status
  • Collaborating closely with NSOC in responding to alerts related to IT security
  • Utilizing NSOC checklist for IT security-related alerts
  • Escalating issue to NSOC when unable to resolve IT security alerts
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate communication to customers as dictated and all other stakeholders

Professional Experience and Skills:

  • General knowledge of operating systems, networks, databases, and web applications
  • General knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 applications including MS Teams
  • Strong customer communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with customers and technical personnel in high-stress situations
  • Write and document clear technical procedures
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring networks/systems, in-depth analytics skills to interpret tool alarms, and reporting capabilities to communicate to leadership the impacts on operations and agency mission caused by network and system disruptions
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls)
  • Hands-on experience with SolarWinds and Dynatrace networks/applications monitoring tools and ServiceNow incident management system
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks concurrently

Education and Years of Experience:

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in network monitoring operations
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ certification, or equivalent are preferred

Security Clearance

  • Applicants selected must be eligible to work in the United States, be subject to a government security investigation, and meet eligibility requirements for access to protected information

Work Location

  • Washington, DC (100% on-site)
