At the direction of the Nursing Manager, the Radiation Oncology Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the brachytherapy procedure and clinic including the direct supervision of nursing staff. This person will work collaboratively with other members of Radiation Oncology and other cancer services & facilitates patient centered care. The Radiation Oncology Nursing Supervisor is responsible for the delivery of high-quality patient care, compliance with regulatory standards, and the efficient management of clinical staff and resources. The supervisor collaborates with healthcare providers, administrative leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities include supervising and supporting nursing staff in clinic and procedure, ensuring adherence to policies and patient safety protocols. Serves as a clinical resource and mentor to nursing staff and providing guidance. Participate in patient care as needed in clinic and procedure, and addressing complex clinical situations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the state of California.

  • Current UCSD ART certification, or BLS and ACLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six (6) months of hire. .

  • Minimum five (5) years of recent related healthcare experience, including at least three (3) years of recent Radiation Oncology RN experience.

  • Broad knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for the delivery of services.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and develop and apply effective solutions.

  • In depth knowledge of patient care clinical standards and care delivery, systems, external regulations, and internal policies.

  • Strong knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources issues and performance, and to participate in decision-making on human resources matters.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaborations and problem solving with all levels of management, staff, consultants, and outside agencies. Must have the ability to effectively communicate on an individual level and within large groups.

  • Demonstrated skills to effectively supervise clinicians and to manage the complex workflow and multiple priorities involved with a clinic(s) / center(s). Strong knowledge of practice operations.

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to train and mentor subordinates, and to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner.

  • Strong knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in clinic / center patient care.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with patients and their families.

  • Compassionate caregiver with a holistic perspective of patient and family-centered care.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Procedural/ brachytherapy experience with procedural sedation.

  • Recent experience assisting anesthesia during procedure.

  • Recent experience managing pediatric patients.

  • OCN certification.

  • PALS certification.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • This position may float to all Radiation Oncology locations including MCC and ECC.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $128,800 - $252,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $61.69 - $120.79

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).

If applicable, life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment; online-only certification is not acceptable.
