The UVA Earn While You Learn Trainee Program provides structured coursework and paid on-the-job-training as a full-time, benefitted employee. This patient focused role is responsible and accountable for various aspects of the patient access experience including but not limited to answering patient and referring provider calls; appointment scheduling, visit registration, mastery of registration, billing/POS collections in multiple locations which include varying clinical demands as well as registration criteria, and interpretation of policies and procedures and requiring the use of independent judgment in a medical setting. Team members will address the various needs of the patient and family either in person or on the phone. Provide patients with tools in both paper and electronic format, which are needed by the clinical and revenue cycle teams to ensure their experience at UVA is optimal. Engages the patient/family in keeping them updated on various aspects of their visit.

All course fees will be paid for by UVA Health in return for 1 year FULL-TIME commitment as an employee at UVA Health once course is completed. Patient Access Trainee - Earn While You Learn Program Team Members are expected to follow Standard Operating Procedures based on role within the Clinic, Call Center or Patient Registration Hub setting. Depending on the team member assignment, all or some of the following responsibilities are included in job expectations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent. Licensure: None required. SKILLS Basic knowledge of and experience utilizing a personal computer. Basic word processing skills required. Must have ability to learn and use telephone, facsimile and copy machine systems. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive) and repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.
