About the Opportunity The Associate Director, College Access and FAFSA Outreach Initiatives will serve as a member of the Outreach and Communications division, reporting to the Director for Outreach and Communications. The primary purpose of this position is to lead the outreach staff in their work training school counselors and college access staff to assist students and families with the college-going process, promoting FAFSA completion, building an understanding of how to pay for college and offering partnership activities designed to increase the college-going rate in North Carolina. The position will be responsible for setting goals and priorities for the outreach staff that encourage a focus on professional development of education professionals in the college going process, FAFSA completion, and building strategic partnerships with other education sectors and adjacent organizations supporting college and career planning. Further, the position will lead the team in planning regional trainings, scheduling team to staff conference exhibit tables, and provide presentations where needed in person and virtually, and oversee the printing and dissemination of college-going materials. The associate director will monitor the teams' progress in meeting KPIs and sharing metrics on the effectiveness of activities with senior leadership, and provide team development, and coaching for improvement where needed. This position is expected to work on-site at least three days per week and may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, consistent with System Office policy. North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA) employees are generally required to reside in North Carolina, within a 2-hour commuting distance of their assigned duty station. About the North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority The North Carolina State Education Assistance Authority (NCSEAA), an agency of the State of North Carolina, is authorized by the General Assembly to plan, finance and administer student financial assistance programs of a statewide or inter-institutional nature. It serves students attending public and private two- and four-year colleges and universities in North Carolina, as well as families of students attending nonpublic K-12 schools. About the Team The Outreach and Communications Division conducts outreach programs to educate and assist North Carolina students and families with paying for college and provides training programs for school counselors and college access organizations. The Division also oversees outreach campaigns to multiple target audiences, media relations, website content of the CFNC, NCSEAA, K-12 and RDS websites as well as agency communications. The office acts as a liaison between NCSEAA and the communications offices of key partner organizations. The Division also coordinates all public record requests. Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills Minimum of bachelor's degree; master's or other advanced degree preferred. Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills Strong commitment to and knowledge of college access services, FAFSA completion, and student financial aid. College access experience in the areas of college admissions, financial aid, or high school counseling services with a focus on FAFSA completion. Strong experience managing teams, capable of providing coaching and direction. Experience presenting to groups, both virtually and in person. Commitment to quality and innovation. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Comfortable analyzing data, presenting it visually and explaining data nuances to education stakeholders. Minimum of bachelor's degree; master's or other advanced degree preferred. Spanish-speaking fluency preferred. Fluent use of: - Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Virtual meeting platform (e.g. Teams, Zoom Meeting) Familiarity with: - Email communications platform (e.g. Constant Contact, Mailchimp) - Webinar platform (e.g. Zoom webinar, GoToWebinar)
