The UCLA Joint Institute for Regional Earth System Science and Engineering (JIFRESSE) invites applications for a position of Associate Project Scientist whose primary role will be consulting on boundary layer cloud research. Consultation topics will include the following:

* Design of gigascale large eddy simulations of maritime shallow convection

* Interpretation of simulated cloud dynamical and microphysical processes

* Development and evaluation of remote sensing retrievals of vertical motion and cloud properties

Basic qualifications (required at time of application):

* Appointee must possess a doctorate degree, in the field of engineering, statistics, earth science, or related disciplines.

* Previous training and experience in large eddy simulation, parameterization development, and retrieval development

* Extensive knowledge and expertise in cloud microphysical and dynamical processes

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
