Assistant Teaching Professor (Non-Tenure Line), Department of Performing Arts Music Program Georgetown University: Main Campus: College of Arts & Sciences: Performing Arts Location: Main Campus Open Date: Apr 11, 2025 Deadline: May 12, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description Description The Department of Performing Arts at Georgetown University invites applications for a full-time, one-year Assistant Teaching Professor (Non-Tenure Line) position in Music for the 2025-2026 academic year. The teaching load is three courses per semester, focused at the undergraduate level. Responsibilities include contributing to the American Musical Cultures major, teaching in the Music Program's core and upper-level curriculum, and supporting the broader academic mission of the department. We are seeking a musicologist or ethnomusicologist with demonstrated teaching experience and scholarly engagement in music theory, writing about music, jazz history, ethnography, and/or music and media studies. The successful candidate will join a vibrant interdisciplinary department and contribute to a flexible, student-centered curriculum that emphasizes global, political, historical, and technological approaches to music. Candidates with interest in teaching both introductory and advanced courses, and with a demonstrated commitment to inclusive pedagogy and diversity in the classroom, are encouraged to apply. Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Musicology, Ethnomusicology, or a closely related field is required by the appointment start date (ABD considered with strong teaching record). Candidates must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching and evidence of active engagement in research or creative work. Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
