Job Description

Mission:

Under general supervision, inspect the surface condition of castings using specialized equipment and a liquid Penetrant, using predetermined inspection methods approved by Quality Assurance to ensure conformance to customer requirements in accordance with quality standards. Ensure that documentation, tooling, and parts are correctly matched to paperwork.

Ensure castings are defect free and conform to production guidelines and customer requirements by performing penetrant inspection functions following established NDT inspection methods, conforming to specifications on technique cards.

Schedule: 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM

Essential Job Functions:

  • Follow all safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Using lifts/hoists/and or other equipment lower and raise baskets of parts in and out of the Penetrant liquid.
  • Using a pressurized hose spray/wash the penetrant liquid off parts.
  • Follow all work instructions (varies by parts)
  • Complete all necessary records and develop logs and other records to assure compliance to specifications.
  • After parts have been dipped and washed this position will sit in a reader booth and under UV light look for any part defects or glowing penetrant residue.
  • Any other task or duties as assigned.
  • Must pass the Penetrant Examination Exam with a grade of 85% or better on each test after training.
  • Must pass the Penetrant Examination Exam with a grade of 85% or better on each annual re-qualifying exam.
  • This position must pass an eye examination each year.
  • Must be able to lift to 35lbs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience and/or training are included in considerations.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, read, follow, and interpret instructions on technique cards, code sheets as well as other verbal or written instructions.
  • Able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • NDT Penetrant Level 1 or 2 certification.
  • Previous experience in NDT testing.
