Position Description:
Education Program Coordinator III Purpose Is responsible for administrative leadership of the Department of Surgery Clerkship and additional medical student programs. Work closely with Program Manager or Program Director to coordinate the daily adminsitrative activities of the program. Provide support to the team to facilitate the achievement of the program's goals. Primary Functions
- Serves as the primary contact for all medical students participating in Department of Surgery Programs.
- Execute institutional or program activities with a high degree of independence (e.g., skills lab, educational events, training, learner recruitment/interviews, orientation, schedules, and graduation).
- Maintain proficiency in accreditation, board and/or institutional requirements. Manage activities related to these requirements to ensure full compliance with a high degree of independence.
- Guide the Designated Institutional Official, Program Director, Clerkship Director, Department Chair and/or other leaders on issues related to the requirements from accreditation agencies, national boards and/or affiliated institutions.
- Serve as primary liaison with faculty, administration, other departments, affiliated institutions, outside institutions and national organizations.
- Develop and maintain database(s) to track, schedule and record activities related to the institution, program(s) and/or learners.
- Serve as an expert regarding information, support and problem solving on a wide range of issues for leaders, faculty, staff and learners.
- Coordinate recruitment of preceptors, instructors and speakers.
- Design and create brochures, flyers, handbooks and other educational materials.
- Coordinate assessment and evaluation activities with a high degree of independence.
- Monitor programmatic budgets. Lead or oversee the work of support staff.
- Collaborate with community campus personnel to train on successful management of programs. Collaborate with Program Directors to facilitate training for program faculty, housestaff, and advanced practice providers. Confirm student education events for surgical education.
- Serve as a liaison with community hospitals, MCW community campuses regarding all MCW surgery student programs, and other colleges/universities for partnership of advanced practice provider student clinical programs. Facilitate program outreach via annual student events.
- Report program progress and data to program stakeholders, including student education committees and fellowship clinical committees, departmental faculty, chiefs, and chair, MCW community campus personnel, and program governing/accrediting bodies.
- Ensure program compliance with regulatory and institutional policies from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals (MCWAH), MCW educational policies, other college/university policies for advanced practice provider students. Confirm protocols and standards for medical students, fellows, and national/international observers.
