Velosity Forest Lake is searching for a Set Up Technician to support our manufacturing facility in Forest Lake, MN on our 3rd shift. This role sets up presses with proper tool, process parameters, auxiliary equipment and data to run scheduled jobs right the first time.
This is an on-site position supporting our Forest Lake location. Shift: Monday-Friday, 11:15pm - 7:30am The typical pay range for this role: $24.81 - $37.22 hourly. This role is also eligible for a 5% quarterly bonus target. This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography, internal equity and other relevant factors. Essential Duties:
- Setup injection molding machines per documented instructions.
- Properly startup work centers to run within validated processes to produce product correctly the first time, on time.
- Operate tooling, presses and auxiliary equipment properly to prevent damage and/or material contamination including hot runner systems, valve gates, servo drivers, pickouts, tooling protection sensors etc.
- Conduct effective operator training for press and mold functions.
- Perform daily Docs and PM's to ensure effective production runs over time and to confirm each press is running within process limits and document process settings as such.
- Document required information using good documentation practices on all company records.
- Properly shut down work centers including proper purging of the molding systems to prevent damage or contamination.
- Provided timely responses to press alarms or production issues for running products.
- Work with cross functional employees to address production concerns for technical or product quality concerns/issues.
- Conduct accurate press to press process conversions to scientifically transfer processes as required.
- Generate accurate and complete ECO requests as required.
- Provide accurate and complete handoffs to incoming technicians to help launch the incoming shift successfully.
- Complete full shut down and line clearance activities to stage work centers for next setups.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED-General Studies
- Valid identification and the ability to work legally in the United States; Valid driver's license required.
- Minimum 2 experience in plastic injection molding industry as a setup technician
- The ability to multitask, run several projects at the same time without losing the ability to complete them on time; communicate with other departments in a professional and respectful manner; basic computer skills; strong problem-solving skills
- Processing, controller, and material knowledge of injection molding equipment, tooling, and decoupled molding techniques (Scientific Molding). Basic understanding of scales and other required measuring equipment; Knowledge of a variety of injection molding presses; Understanding of blueprint reading; Knowledge of set up processes
- To be able to perform daily tasks safely; to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Physical & Mental Demands:
- Walking is required within the office/shop areas. Sitting, standing, turning the head and torso, reaching, grasping, bending and flexing the arms, legs, wrists, and fingers are physical requirements. Must have correctable eyesight and good depth perception. Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Must be able to walk, sit and occasionally climb and balance. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and move objects in a safe manner using proper equipment. Must have dexterity with hands.
- Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks and complete them within a timely manner (results oriented); Ability to make decisions with limited information.

This position may require one to move throughout the shop and office and may be subject to airborne contaminants and chemical odors as would be customary in an injection molding/ Precision Machining shop.
