Job Title: Part-time Program Specialist (Special Education)

Duration: 12 Months with possible extension

Payrate : $24.61/hr on W2 without benefits

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements and evaluates special education services programming
  • Reviews records for all patients who are under the age of twenty-two (22), who have not graduated from high school, and determine special education eligibility
  • Conducts interviews and administer educational evaluation and assessment appropriate to the patient's educational needs
  • Develops an IEP and curriculum for qualified patients to meet the patient's identified educational needs in accordance with IDEA guidelines.
  • Implements individualized educational curriculum and programming
  • Establishes appropriate goals and objectives for each patient that qualifies for special education services based on current level of educational functioning
  • Documents results of the educational evaluation, goals and objectives, educational progress of patients in the health record according to ASH's administrative policy and procedure
  • Participates in treatment planning
  • Provides support and education to teaching staff
  • Maintains patients' education records and Nueva Vista School District data with state and federal special education laws and requirements of the Arizona Department of Education.
  • Completes required reporting necessary for funding and management of special education services


Required skills:



  • Organization, research, development, implementation and evaluation of educational needs, educational lesson plans as assessed; overseeing budget and procurement procedures; use of a variety of audio-visual equipment and other related training aids; computer skills proficient to allow for preparation of own materials, including completion of reports and use of Power Point presentations as needed.


Abilities to:


  • To organize and plan a variety of educational programs for inpatients
  • To maintain effective working relationships with diverse educational backgrounds and experience.
  • to supervise and provide technical oversight to contract teachers.
  • To supervise other personnel.
  • To speak and write effectively.
