Ice Cream Shop Clerk (Part-Time)

General Purpose

Provide excellent customer service, assisting customers with their inquiries and purchases, and ensuring the store is well-maintained, clean, and organized. Promote a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Job Duties and Responsibilities



  • Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner, and provide assistance with their shopping needs. Answer customer questions, provide product information, and offer suggestions or recommendations as needed
  • Process customer purchases, handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, and operate the cash register or point-of-sale system efficiently
  • Acquire an understanding of the products sold in the store. Stay up-to-date with new arrivals, promotions, and special offers to effectively assist customers in finding the right products
  • Handle customer complaints and concerns professionally and escalate issues to the store manager if necessary, aiming to achieve a satisfactory resolution
  • Stock, rotate, and organize shelves and displays; ensure that products are properly labeled and priced
  • Keep store looking clean and organized; perform daily assigned cleaning jobs
  • Help monitor inventory levels and notify supervisor when products need to be replenished or reordered. Assist in regular inventory counts
  • Be vigilant for shoplifting or fraudulent activities and report any suspicious behavior or incidents to the store security or management
  • Answer incoming calls
  • Complete shipping activities (e.g., UPS)
  • The Creamery: cut cheese samples, variety bags, and cheese trays; bag curd in wrap area; bag candy; scoop ice cream
  • Alban's: load and unload customer vehicles; load/unload freight trucks; fill propane tanks
  • Follow all safety and sanitation procedures

Part Time

$13.50 per hour

Education and Experience



  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 0 to 1 year of retail, customer service, or related experience
  • Certification and/or License - may be required during course of employment


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Strong customer service skills
  • Able to complete basic arithmetic, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
  • Able to handle cash transactions accurately


  • Able to respond courteously and efficiently to inquiries, complaints, and requests
  • Able to project a professional image
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Able to work in a team-oriented environment
  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and practices to maintain a clean and hygienic work environment
