Corrections Activities Manager 2 - SCI Mercer

As a Corrections Activities Manager 2, you will supervise the Activities Department at SCI Mercer. You will plan, organize, schedule, and direct wellness programs, leisure time activities, and entertainment. You will monitor volunteer programs, prepare requisitions for supplies and equipment, and ensure inmate activities are offered in accordance with DOC policies. This role requires effective communication skills and the ability to form working relationships that encourage inmate participation in activities and programs. In addition, you will evaluate subordinate staff, participate in mandatory training and testing, and exercise therapeutic care, custody, and control over inmates at all times.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $66,250 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Two (2) years of experience as a Corrections Activities Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• One year as a Corrections Activities Manager 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three (3) years of experience in developing and conducting a variety of recreational activities, including one (1) year in Corrections and one year of supervisory or lead work experience, and a bachelor's degree, with major course work in recreation and physical education; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
