Function:

Procurement Job Summary:CF Industries is the world's largest producer of ammonia and a leading global manufacturer of hydrogen and nitrogen products. Our manufacturing complexes in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom are among the most cost-advantaged, efficient, and flexible globally. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the construction of a state-of-the-art, large-scale facility dedicated to producing low-carbon ammonia. This industry-transforming plant is being built from the ground up, utilizing the latest ATR technology combined with carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). This advanced technology is expected to reduce emissions from the ammonia production process by more than 90% compared to conventional plants without CCS. While we are not the first company to build a plant with ATR technology, this will be the largest of its kind.

Position Overview:

The Project Procurement Manager will be responsible for the overall procurement and logistics execution of the Blue Point Project. The Manager is the overall leader of the procurement, logistics and material control team within the project team and is fully responsible for the overall performance of the team in support of the execution of the project. The Manager will lead a team to provide strategic procurement, material control and logistics initiatives, including program and stakeholder management strategies for the Project, based on advanced project procurement, material control and logistics knowledge, in alignment with the strategic direction of the company-wide function in supporting the project. The manager will also lead the procurement team in working with the selected EPC(s) in alignment with overall project. Job Description:

What you'll do:

  • Establish the procurement execution strategy of the project and leads the development of procurement strategies on the Blue Point project in support of the vision and strategic direction of Procurement and Material Control.
  • Manage operationally the procurement team by setting clear priorities, controlling progress, and supporting when issues arise.
  • Leadership and execution of procurement contracting strategies on the Blue Point project in alignment with the organizational structures and expectations.
  • Develop market intelligence of clean energy markets, building strong knowledge of the supply base and supply chain vulnerabilities.
  • Develop and implement a spare parts strategy for the Blue Point project to ensure proper care, custody, and control of all materials.
  • Ensures continuous engagement with the project team and stakeholder community in the procurement process and Blue Point project execution.
  • Manages appropriate supply and service agreements, and facilitate any necessary improvements to increase accuracy, visibility and productivity and to ensure compliance to the contract management process and any applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Build effective and collaborative relationships with suppliers to drive efficiency.
  • Leads the team to ensure understanding and leveraging of knowledge of the company's and competitor's products, industry trends, and superior business practices, and integrates the same into procurement operations in ways that achieve competitive advantage.
  • Leads the development and execution of the risk management plan that addresses key risks in contract management, supply, supplier management and procurement processes.
  • Manages key supplier relationships in conjunction with stakeholders to increase alignment and value generation between the supplier and CF.
  • Develops a strategy on imports and delivery logistics including the execution of required roles and resources.
  • Takes a key role with the team in working with the selected EPC(s) in alignment with overall project execution.
  • Develop and implement a spare parts strategy and material control organization for the project to ensure proper care, custody, and control of all materials.
  • Develops a strategy for supplier qualification efforts including introduction of potential new suppliers and supports the development of an approved supplier list.
Required Skills
  • BS/BA in a related field or equivalent experience typically required to complete all essential job functions: Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or other related disciplines. Experience of at least 5 years or related professional experience, including supervisory experience; 10+ years of experience preferred.
  • Certification in Procurement or Supply Management Desirable. Knowledge of SAP, Ariba and other procurement systems. Experience in heavy industrial environment, knowledge of chemical manufacturing and major capital projects.
  • Communications and Interpersonal Skills: Regularly communicates both in writing and verbally. Communicates with broad range of contacts. Information exchanged requires advanced knowledge in multiple areas. Moderate influence and persuasion are expected, particularly regarding subordinates.
  • Complexity: Able to solve typical problems that are encountered. Able to diagnose most situations by interpreting data and comparing to similar scenarios. Work involves detailed planning of own activities and immediate work team. May involve resource planning beyond work team. Advanced level of logical reasoning and critical thinking are required.
  • Decision Making Authority: Decisions are complex, and impact area(s) managed and possibly impact areas not directly managed. More independent judgment is expected and used. Has accountability for the performance and results of a team within own discipline or function. Receives guidance and oversight from manager.
  • Financial Accountability: Given the size and scope of the function, revenue and expense are impacted based on the manager's performance and results of oneself and those managed.
  • Strategic Influence: Primarily impacts the execution and achievement of short-term strategies through employees directly and indirectly managed. May also participate in the execution and achievement of long-term strategies. Decisions made are likely to impact the business on a short-term basis.
