We are currently seeking a Plant Operations Vacation Relief Supervisor for the Minneapolis Milk Plant in Minneapolis, MN. In this hybrid role, you will play a vital role in maintaining smooth and efficient operations by providing coverage for Operations Supervisors in both the production and cooler areas. Working within established standard operating procedures and under moderate supervision, this role is responsible for overseeing all stages of production-from pre-production through final loadout-while upholding safety, food quality, and regulatory standards. This position actively promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and environmental responsibility. When not covering a supervisor vacancy, the individual will work the day shift, supporting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives as directed by the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Assign work and provide clear direction to operation employees.
  • Ensure the facility is flowing smoothly and all daily goals are met.
  • Supervise production scheduling so appropriate quantities and varieties of products are produced to fill orders, meet demand, meet productivity goals, etc.
  • Oversee production and cooler activities to ensure that plant production and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor the equipment used in facility processes to ensure it is functioning efficiently, is properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Communicate equipment failures to the maintenance department and ensure completion of repairs.
  • Engage with employees through shift meetings and informal conversations, providing support and guidance to help cultivate positive and productive working relationships.
  • Effectively apply work rules, union contract provisions (if applicable), and employment policies.
  • Administer discipline consistently and fairly.
  • Develop and implement effective safety programs for the identification, prevention, and control of injuries such as health and safety education and training programs.
  • Perform regular assessments of operational areas for hazards; assist the management team and line organization in identifying hazards, developing job hazard analyses (JHA's) and safe operating procedures for all tasks.
  • Develop and implement audit programs to review and certify compliance with applicable health and safety standards.
  • Support management in investigating workplace incidents, identifying root causes, creating incident review presentations, presenting the investigation, and developing corrective actions.


  • Undergraduate degree in manufacturing or related curriculum (or equivalent combination of experience and education).
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment or related experience coupled with demonstrated leadership attributes or team leadership experience; supervisor experience preferred.
  • Experience in food and/or beverage manufacturing preferred.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Excel and Inventory Management Systems, JD Edwards is a plus.
  • Certification and/or License - may be required during the course of employment.
