PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs all therapeutic modalities listed for competency relative to Respiratory Care and Clinical Practice Guidelines (AARC) per Northside policy.
  2. Utilizes adult learning principles in the planning, development, delivery, and evaluation of education programs.
  3. Serves on planning committees to assist in the development of education programs.
  4. Maintain current knowledge in clinical practice to support program development and delivery.
  5. Assist Manager/Director of RT in the development of clinical education programs.
  6. Maintains current knowledge of innovative education models to delivery education.
  7. Assist with the development and teaching of the preceptor development program with the Coordinator of Respiratory Care.
  8. Provide clinical rounding and support for Respiratory Care interns, students, and RT Staff.
  9. Management of the onboarding and Check-off of all newly hired employees to include verification at 30/60/90 day evaluation and reports progress to Supervisor/Manager/Director.
  10. Collaborates with Supervisor/Manager/Director in the development of Respiratory preceptors.
  11. Serves as a resource in the development of AARC continuing education applications.
  12. Coordinates/Participates in student rotations, placement, evaluation, and support.
  13. Plans and provides in-services to support implementation of new equipment, programs, and processes.
  14. Proficient in computerized EMR documentation processes.
  15. Assists the Manager/Director with the education of compliance measures for the department.
  16. Coordinates/Assists Supervisors in Respiratory Therapy with annual competency training.
  17. Provide quality improvement assessments, data collection, reports, and recommendations as needed.
  18. Assists with policy and procedure maintenance.
  19. Responsible for the maintenance of an orientation manual, the orientation and precepting of respiratory therapists to include associate file maintenance initially and annually.
  20. Ability to prepare and present educational material in a clear and logical manner.
  21. Ability to present data metrics for department outcome expectations and success factors.
  22. Oversees the maintenance of educational resources for staff to include a resource library and audiovisual aids.
  23. Coordinates and implements didactic sessions for interns and new employees.

REQUIRED:

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

  1. Bachelors in Respiratory Therapy or consider other Bachelors in Health related field.\
  2. Five (5) years' experience in clinical area.
  3. Must be ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP Certified.
  1. Minimum of 5 years' experience in Critical Care
  2. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Must achieve ACCS and NPS or RPFT from the NBRC within 2 years of hire.
  3. Current licensure by the state of Georgia as a RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist).
