Overview

The Mortgage Business Development Specialist is responsible for growing Ascend's mortgage market and wallet share through engagement of prospective and existing referral partners, including but not limited to, sponsorship, membership, and participation in professional business/industry trade groups. The Mortgage Business Development Specialist identifies business opportunities and partners with Mortgage Loan origination staff and leaders across the organization to facilitate activities that support Ascend's strategic objectives. Primary areas of responsibility are to serve as account manager for industry trade groups and serve as a support role for strategic partnership efforts and business development projects. Will also serve as the department liaison with the Marketing Department, assisting with the creation of mortgage marketing collateral such as flyers, CRM content, social media content, etc. As an ambassador of the Ascend Brand, the Mortgage Business Development Specialist represents the credit union at business and community events and serves on relevant committees to drive community awareness of Ascend's mortgage offerings, and to identify and secure growth opportunities.#LI-Onsite.



Responsibilities

    Effectively develop and recommend strategic business plans to achieve mortgage origination goals, partnering with the mortgage origination team.
  • Researches, identifies and pursues new business opportunities and referral partners to increase mortgage sales.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, real estate agents, builders, financial planners and other relevant referral partners.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to develop and execute effective sales campaigns and develop marketing collateral for mortgage lending.
  • Professionally represents Ascend at business and community, and industry events, conferences, trade group meetings, etc. to promote the credit union and our mortgage lending activities.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare regular reports on business development activities and progress towards origination goals.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure member and referral partner satisfaction and retention.
  • Work closely with other mortgage team members to help ensure a seamless member experience.
  • Cultivates strong working relationships with internal teams and business units.
  • Manages professional memberships for business and community groups, including sponsorship opportunities and assets. Executes billing and required contracts and ensures internal contact and business information remains current. Communicates and coordinates relevant opportunities with internal teams as needed.
  • Effectively uses sales management programs to maximize sales efficiency and effectiveness. Maintains accurate records of sales leads and partner groups, including statistics, contacts, and activities. Prepares regular status reports.
  • Effectively promotes mortgage resources within key business and community groups. This includes conducting professional in-person and virtual seminars, providing online education resources, staying informed of mortgage industry insights, and analyzing group performance/reach.
  • Remains informed on frontline market conditions and competition and advises Ascend management and mortgage staff of findings.
  • Read all internal publications including HUB and Possibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Business, Marketing, or related field required
  • 5-8 years experience in mortgage sales / business development required and
  • 1-3 years experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mortgage products, services and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with members referral partners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and other sales tools.
  • Strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • Regular, reliable attendance is required.
