Salary Range Starting at: $41,000.00

Job Description:

As the Community Center Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the daily operations of The Salvation Army Eagle Creek Community Center. You will also be responsible for implementing programs and activities that serve the needs of our surrounding community, ensuring that The Salvation Army Eagle Creek Community Center is a safe and hopeful place for everybody and that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do:




  • Coordinate and manage the community center class schedule, including leagues on an ongoing basis, such as Booth Manor Residents, and provide oversight for all activities.
  • Collaborate with the Social Services Department, Corps Leadership, and Central Indiana Area Command to help coordinate, plan, and execute annual events as directed.
  • Work with local corps leadership to oversee the execution of the summer day camp, including hiring staff and comprehensive program planning.
  • Act as a liaison with the community to promote programs and find partners to join our mission.
  • Assist in monitoring community demographics, interests, and needs related to Corps program growth and sustainability.
  • Ensure leaders are properly trained to use equipment and resources.
  • Complete security checks and lock up at the end of the programs by Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and update a promotional plan for Community Center Ministries to ensure maximum participation from members and the community.


  • Ensure an environment that welcomes families and persons of all ages, ethnicities, and genders.
  • Work in conjunction with local leadership and Central Indiana Area Command to gauge the funding needs of events and leagues often, ensuring that all expenditures fit within approved budgets, policies, and state/federal laws; develop and submit budget proposals for new programs and activities for view and consideration by the corps officer; create an annual budget for approval and monitor expenses based on funding allocations authorized by the corps officer.

Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.

Education: College degree in a related field to duties or experience equivalent

Background Checks: The position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience: 3-5 years in sports recreation management and/or related field

Certifications: Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe from Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.

Skills/Abilities:



  • Strong cultural intelligence and competence
  • Able to speak, write, and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele. Fluency in a second language is preferred.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems
  • Organization and ability to communicate expectations to support staff and volunteers
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills
  • A strong understanding of budgeting and financial management

Travel: additional training opportunities and requirements may periodically become available, occasionally necessitating travel (provided by TSA).

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a recreation environment and office environment with often exceptional amounts of noise. May require some weekend work.
