The Opportunity Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company is looking for a dedicated Associate Scientist - Upstream to optimize our Biopharma Production organization. This Bridgewater, NJ/ Innovation Center role is full-time, on-site. What we are looking for Minimum Education Requirement: * BS/BA (biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, chemical engineering, bioengineering or scientifically related.) Master's degree preferred Experience: Required: (1+ year): * Molecular biology, biochemistry and/ or bioengineering. * Managing bacterial cell cultures through subculturing, clone screening, and cell banking, while also focusing on plasmid design, cloning, troubleshooting, and procurement for protein expression. * With safe laboratory practices and procedures. * Working in a cross-functional environment with Scientists * Communicating study results. * Generating and maintaining experimental data in a highly organized manner. * Following scientific protocols, policies, and procedures. Preferred: * With cell culture medium and reagent preparation, transfections, antibody/protein/RNA/DNA analysis, and bioreactor set-up and operation. * Performing process development activities such as culture condition optimization and process scale-up in bench-top bioreactors. * Performing SDS-PAGE, Western Blot and/or ELISA. The successful candidate will: * Work independently to implement solutions for customers based on our products and services through close collaboration with customers and other innovation associates/Scientists. * Identify innovative applications for a range of products to solve specific customer issues by planning and executing hands on studies at internal and customer laboratories.
