Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Procurement plays a critical role in advancing Macy's strategic priorities by optimizing procurement processes, driving cost efficiencies, and strengthening supplier partnerships. The role focuses on core procurement responsibilities, including sourcing strategy, supplier management, and business partnership development, with an emphasis on alignment with Macy's vision of delivering A Bold New Chapter and achieving operational excellence.

The Senior Manager partners closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to build and maintain strategic relationships. This includes identifying high-impact suppliers, implementing performance metrics, and leading continuous improvement initiatives that ensure Macy's remains aligned with industry trends and best-in-class practices.

The role leads spend analysis, evaluates supply markets, identifies sourcing value levers, and manages the execution of competitive RFI/RFP processes and supplier negotiations. It leverages e-sourcing platforms where appropriate and develops implementation plans to realize sourcing benefits. The Senior Manager builds strong cross-functional partnerships, particularly with the Marketing, Digital, and other key corporate teams, and contributes to savings tracking and infrastructure-building initiatives as needed.

What You Will Do



  • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives in alignment with Macy's sourcing methodology.
  • Analyze spend data and industry trends to prioritize and initiate high-impact sourcing efforts.
  • Conduct complex financial analyses and build models such as ROI, NPV, supplier scorecards, savings tracking, and make-vs.-buy decision frameworks.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather business requirements and ensure sourcing solutions meet organizational needs.
  • Develop strong stakeholder relationships and create business cases for new spend management opportunities.
  • Identify and pursue value-driving opportunities through innovation, process optimization, and demand management to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Plan, manage, and execute Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Support the development and execution of negotiation strategies.
  • Manage the supplier selection process and provide data-driven insights to support informed decision-making.
  • Define contract terms and conditions and work with legal teams to execute optimal supplier agreements.
  • Assist in managing supplier relationships, tracking performance, and delivering feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Support the implementation of procurement strategies, policies, and procedures across the organization.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.

Skills You Will Need

Strategic Sourcing Expertise: Deep understanding of sourcing methodologies, supplier negotiations, contract management, and value levers to drive cost savings and efficiency.

Analytical Thinking: Skilled in spend analysis, market evaluation, and building financial models (ROI, NPV, make-vs.-buy) to support data-driven decision-making.

Supplier Management: Proven ability to build, manage, and optimize supplier relationships, implement performance metrics, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Stakeholder Partnership: Strong relationship-building skills with internal stakeholders across Marketing, Digital, IT, and other corporate functions to align sourcing strategies with business goals.

Category Sourcing Experience: Experience sourcing a wide range of categories, including Marketing (Media, Agency Services, Advertising Production), Research, Events, IT (E-Commerce, Martech, AI), and more.

Retail & CPG Knowledge: Background in retail or consumer packaged goods preferred, with an understanding of industry dynamics and trends.

Procurement Systems Proficiency: Proficient in procurement tools and e-sourcing platforms to manage RFI/RFP processes and contract execution.

Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to lead cross-functional projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Process Optimization: Ability to identify and drive process improvements, innovation, and demand management to increase effectiveness and reduce costs.

Communication & Presentation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and executive-level presentation capabilities.

Collaboration & Influence: Demonstrated ability to influence change, build consensus, and lead through ambiguity and complexity.

Continuous Learning & Development: Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma methodologies preferred, with a mindset for ongoing professional development.

Who You Are



  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Finance, Supply Chain Management, Marketing Procurement, or related field are encouraged to apply.
  • 5+ years of experience in an operational procurement environment, or 5 years of procurement consulting and 2 years of operational procurement experience.
  • Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
  • You may be required to travel domestically 2-3 times per year to visit suppliers, attend conferences, and support internal company locations.
