Overview
The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for owning the marketing vision, strategy, and calendarization of the brand's portfolio of products and services. Partners with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities, define business outcomes, understand the voice of the member, and drive go-to-market strategies. Requires in-depth knowledge of the organization's objectives and can prioritize action autonomously. Owns project scoping, briefing, and calendar process to determine what brand/product/services features should be communicated and explains why they are needed. Serve as a liaison between key business stakeholders to define, develop, communicate, and execute strategic plans. Own and drive recommendations for the roadmap and refine and prioritize based on business objectives, member research, competitive dynamics, and data analytics. Manages Marketing Project Specialist/Lead in efforts to streamline project needs throughout the credit union. Build a unique, differentiated, ownable positioning for Ascend Federal Credit Union and translate to all messaging platforms to inform execution of results-driven marketing communications. Demonstrate good judgement and works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
Responsibilities
Responsible for defining and supporting initiatives through the marketing calendar that help build desirable, feasible, and sustainable member with minimal oversight
- Support the end-to-end go-to-marketing planning process including ideation, project briefing, calendar plotting, communications development, and performance reporting
- Collaborate with product teams to provide analytics, segmentation and member insights (including customer journey and target personas/segments) generated from consumer and competitive insights, driving the messaging, testing, and evaluation to achieve best in class member experiences and engagement
- Lead membership acquisition efforts providing strategic leadership and direction based on business needs. Partner with acquisition advertising agency to plan annual testing roadmap and optimizations.
- Lead quarterly product communications planning alongside primary business unit teams, providing prioritization and business context while keeping key stakeholders informed of any changes in strategy, approach, timing, challenges, or opportunities
- Develops a deep understanding of the credit union's business objectives, risk tolerance, brand, products and services, research and competitive trends as well as member insights to proactively identify needs, problems, and solutions based on analyses
- Leads, without formal authority, assigned marketing processes ideation to enhancements to post-delivery maintenance
- Explores the market, conducting market research on product features to understand end-to-end the current and future member needs
- Evaluate and report on campaign performance, test results/learnings, data insights, etc. to business units, cross-functional partners and all levels leadership
- Defines, owns, and communicates the brand and product functions, vision, and roadmap
- Solves moderate to complex project-related problems
- Acts as the voice of the internal marketing team and the member, and advocates for the needs of those stakeholders
- Builds partnerships and alliances, and manage relationships with partners to drive forward the implementation on all fronts to develop innovative platforms
- Enables decision making for leaders through clear and concise communication
- Develops unprompted new ideas, initiatives, and recommendations that drive continuous improvement
- Serve as a business subject matter expert regarding product functions and how they relate to other products and services, as well as how they benefit the member
- Deliver compelling and effective communications/presentations to departmental and executive management, as well as socialization into all marketing activities
- Evaluate marketing progress through iterations with creative and messaging, or other delivery components, by developing acceptance criteria for delivery team
- Mentor lower level team members
- Check and verify employees' timecards.
- Prepare employee work schedules or assign as needed.
- Regularly monitor employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, recognition, rewards, and motivation to all employees.
- Attend various meetings and training sessions to keep updated on job duties or as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required.
- Read all internal publications including HUB and Possibilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field such as Marketing, Strategy, Business, Finance, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience required
- 5-8 years in brand management or product management or related roles required
- Extensive experience in leading brand, product and/or marketing campaigns with business risk and impact; to include strategy, execution, innovation, problem solving and decision making
- Extensive experience leading, shaping and developing marketing plans and innovative solutions that drive results toward business priorities and goals
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal direction and assertiveness to change team processes quickly
- Significant experience in collaborating across organizational boundaries and building partnerships
- Advanced knowledge of state and federal financial and advertising laws, industry regulations, principles, and practices
- Advanced knowledge of financial and marketing industry trends, products, and services
- Advanced skill influencing, guiding strategic thinking, synthesizing recommendations and building consensus with business partners based on data, insights, research available
- Advanced verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to deliver effective recommendations and presentations to groups of various sizes
- Advanced organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Comfortability with big, undefined problems and the capability to break down problems to find solutions
- Advanced skill interacting with staff, management, vendors, and members diplomatically and tactfully
- Regular, reliable attendance required.
