Job Summary:
SMSI is hiring an Electrical Design Engineer who will be responsible for performing Electrical design activities (low voltage, cabling, conduit, tray design, etc...) on the Savannah River Plutonium Processing Facility (SRPPF). This person will be based in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and will be responsible for various engineering assignments on projects. The candidate should demonstrate technical responsibilities for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating engineering assignments.
Responsibilities:
The qualified candidate will perform engineering activities pertaining to planning, design, and execution of Electrical Design in accordance with client's engineering procedures and applicable national and / or nuclear codes and standards, e.g., NEC, IBC, ASME, NFPA, ASCE, etc.
Specific requirements and responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Basic understanding of power systems
  • Develop area classifications and design documents
  • Develop electrical design documents
  • Perform electrical calculations such as short circuit, relay coordination, voltage drop, cable derating and cable pulling tension
  • Prepare motor schematics and diagrams
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD)systems/procedures
  • Electrical power systems software (e.g., Hexagon Smart Electrical, Electrical Transient and Analysis Program (ETAP), SKM, etc.)



Required Skills:



  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university.
  • Relevant work experience can be satisfied by nuclear work in the DOD, DOE or commercial nuclear industry space.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications as well as comfortable working skills in desktop automation.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Q clearance is required.



Education:


A bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university.
