Reports to: Development Operations Manager

Program: 7000- Development

Department: Development

Location: Arlington Administration - 2116 Arlington Ave., Suite 100, Los Angeles, CA 90018

Setting: Not 100% Onsite

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am - 4:30pm

Status: Full-time/Exempt/Management

SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Development Operations Manager, the Mid-Level Giving Officer is a member of the agency's administrative team and, as such, receives direction on occasion from the Director of Development and Chief Executive Officer. This position is responsible for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of middle-capacity individual relationships to support agency services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Supports cultivation and solicitation strategies for a portfolio of approximately 300 donors and prospects giving $1,000-$5,000 annually
  • Develop and implement personalized engagement strategies to attract mid-level donor prospects and ongoing donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities with the goal of increasing their philanthropic support; identifying prospects to steward up to the Major Gifts level
  • Schedule, track and conduct individual and group donor cultivation, solicitations and stewardship activities personally and with agency leadership and Board members
  • Conduct research on prospective donors and produce donor profiles for staff and Board solicitations
  • Create personalized donor correspondence, including: proposals, acknowledgements, thank you cards, reports and pledge agreements as needed
  • Provides regular feedback and reporting on individual donor gifts to supervisor, Board and staff
  • Conducts agency-wide tours with prospective supporters and current donors
  • Represents and networks for The People Concern at external community and donor events
  • Perform data entry to track own actions as well as those of Board members and C-suite staff as necessary

Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in individual fundraising, and some knowledge of development strategies
  • Valid CA Driver's license and reliable transportation
  • A passion for connecting philanthropists with impact opportunities to help the most vulnerable in their communities
  • Detail oriented with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and communications skills
  • Demonstrated skills in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of mid-level donors
  • Computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Comfortable with a flexible schedule to accommodate some night and weekend work and donor schedules and events requirements
  • Able to travel between Los Angeles County offices as work requires



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Two years experience in individual fundraising, with knowledge of development strategies
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge CRM
  • Familiarity with prospect research resources and donor screening software such as iWave
  • An understanding of or interest in the issues driving homelessness in Los Angeles county



Work Environment:



  • Combination of field and indoor office environment
  • Travel between agency locations, and external locations, up to 50%
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend; occasionally lift or carry up to 35 lbs.
  • On occasion walk or drive to different local sites
  • Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments
  • Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise and odor
  • May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
