Responsibilities

Summary
The Tax Compliance Manager is responsible for managing the federal and state tax compliance and project matters related to all ongoing and historical federal and state tax issues. Responsibilities include assisting with the tax provision preparation in and preparation of federal and complex state tax returns using OneSource Tax Compliance. Undertakes extensive selfreviews
to generate a sold work product that requires limited changes upon higher level review. Assists tax leadership to liaise between the Company and government or external auditors by providing the required information and ensuring that proper information is maintained for historical purposes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Manages tax compliance and project matters related to federal and state income tax.
  • The Tax Compliance Manager assists with foreign international tax matters, as needed.
  • Assists in developing responses for requests related to all state income tax audits as well as gathering necessary information.
  • Assists with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations under ASC 740, as needed.
  • The Tax Compliance Manager assists with the review of all US consolidated corporate income tax returns (federal and state), partnership and other related returns including review and preparation of detailed documents supporting all tax return line items and related tax positions.
  • Assists with the preparation or review of quarterly federal and state income tax estimates.
  • The Tax Compliance Manager conducts tax research & planning assignments.
  • Manages special recuring tax projects.
  • Assists with documentation and implementation of tax policies and procedures as well as create efficiencies in those procedures.
  • Serves as a liaison between the company and external advisors by providing required information and performing any required analyses.
  • Trains and develops staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Master's degree in taxation or accounting preferred and CPA or CPA eligible highly desirable.
  • Seven (7) years of experience in the tax area.
  • Must have extensive and proven independent experience in federal consolidated returns (preparation and review). Must have a multi-state tax background.
  • Must present effective oral and written communication skills. Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills and work-paper techniques. Must be a confident decision-maker able to produce accurate results with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Thomson Reuters OneSource and Bloomberg Fixed Asset software a plus.
  • Ability to read and analyze financial reports and legal documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and general public.
  • Must effectively communicate with management and effectively communicate with staff.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
