Machinist

This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered.

As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen.

A Machinist must possess extensive expertise in interpreting project requirements from complex blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions. They compute dimensions and tolerances for intricate assemblies and research hardware, utilizing CAD software for analysis and importing various file formats into CAM software like Tek-Soft, ESPRIT, and CAMplete. This role involves programming and editing Level 2 G-code and M-Code for CNC machines, including 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis operations. The Machinist applies advanced mathematics, computer proficiency, and engineering principles to program and operate CNC lathes, milling machines, laser and wire EDM machines, and employs rapid prototyping techniques for aeronautical components.

Pay commensurate with experience.

Machinist II Responsibilities Include:

Fabricates metal parts by operating mechanical equipment.

Operates one or more types of machines in order to meet production demands.

support rapid fabrication of highly complex and non-routine experimental and prototype components

Sets and adjusts machine settings as necessary.

Reads and interprets diagrams and blueprints to select, position, and secure machinery to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.

Complete tasks accurately according to customer specifications.

Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, reference planes, location of surfaces, machining parameters, interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

Sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; and indicating vices.

Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.

Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces, adhering to international standards.

Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting controls; replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

Updates job knowledge by participating in education opportunities.

Machinist II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

Requires a High School Diploma have a minimum of seven years of relevant and recent manufacturing and machinist experience.

Demonstrates the ability to operate a machine as instructed and the ability to learn and perform the functions required.

Ability to inspect parts and be able to edit offsets as required.

Ability to read and interpret drawings/blueprints, technical data and related specifications.

Exhibit good attendance, a good attitude and the ability to work well with others.

Secret security clearance required.

Must be eligible to work on programs subject to ITAR Regulations. Therefore, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident ('Green Card').

Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
