City of Hope Orange County is transforming cancer treatment by bringing world-class expertise and specialized care closer to home. Supported by a regional network of care, our 11-acre academic cancer campus in Irvine is home to City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, our outpatient cancer center, and Orange County's only cancer specialty hospital, opening in late 2025.

With the opening of the hospital, the full continuum of advanced cancer care-from prevention through survivorship-will be available in Orange County for the first time, eliminating the need to travel for lifesaving treatment. Seamlessly connected to our outpatient cancer center, the new clinical research hospital will feature 73 inpatient beds, advanced surgical suites, groundbreaking clinical trials, and holistic services such as rehabilitative therapy and spiritual care. This isn't standard cancer care. This is lifesaving cancer care. This is Hope.

Position Summary

Oversee clinical functions related to the delivery of patient care, as well as the quality of nursing practice and the standards of care in the Hematology unit. You will coordinate patient care by directing staff and functions on the unit, while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills. Ensure continuity and congruity of services through coordination of the department, supervision, and direction of staff, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, and patients.

The Hematology unit provides comprehensive care to patients with hematologic malignancies such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma. In addition, the unit also specializes in managing patients undergoing CAR T therapy and those participating in clinical research trials. The unit is equipped to diagnose, treat, and manage various blood-related cancers through a multidisciplinary approach. This opportunity is for full-time and designated for the day shift.This position is eligible for a weekend differential up to an additional $15.60/hr.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in nursing is required.
  • Current California RN license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years related experience, preferred background in oncology nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card through American Heart Association
  • Current National certification must be maintained to retain CN IV status. City of Hope (Nursing Excellence Department and HR) approve certifications which are a subset of ANCC Magnet-recognized certifications as updated in ANCC Demographic Data Collection Tool. (DDCT)
