Estimator

Job Summary

The Estimator is responsible for preparing quotes for new equipment and parts and to utilize the E2 System in a manner that improves shop efficiency. This person will assist the Purchasing Agent in buying materials and inventory control when required.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for the functionality and data integrity of the E2 System
• Prepare estimates to construct equipment used in Darling Ingredients facilities such as conveyors, hoppers, tanks, and similar fabrications
• Work with Purchasing to manage material planning requirements and develop completion estimates for jobs.
• Implement and utilize the estimating function of the E2 system
• Field calls and inquiries from personnel at other Darling Ingredients facilities
• Review plans and specifications to determine scope of work on large jobs
• Perform job cost analysis on completed jobs and look for ways to improve
• Serve as a back-up to purchasing department when required

Qualifications

• Communicates clearly in verbal and written form.
• Highly organized; superior time management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Strong mechanical aptitude/background
• Ability to work with multiple levels of management personnel
• Strong math skills
• Must be 18 years of age with valid driver's license.
• Team player who can work independently and think outside the box

Education/Experience Requirements

• Associates degree or High school diploma preferred.
• Computer literacy in a MS Office environment
• 2-5 years experience in a metal job shop environment

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel.
• Occasionally must push, pull, move or lift up to 100 lbs.
• Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

Job functions will be carried out in an office, warehouse, or shop.
