Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Tool Maker to support funded projects and sustain production by manufacturing, repairing, and maintaining aircraft jigs, fixtures, and dies. This role requires expertise in conventional machining practices, including milling machines, engine lathes, and surface grinders for complex geometries. The ideal candidate will be a skilled tool developer who can work with minimal supervision and instruction.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assemble, fit, repair, and maintain various aircraft tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Operate hand tools such as pneumatic and electric die grinders, band saws, and drill presses.
  • Efficiently utilize tool room machinery, including milling machines, surface grinders, and lathes.
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to ensure accuracy.
  • Interpret complex blueprints and technical data to create and modify tools.
  • Solve geometric problems using trigonometry, angles, and three-dimensional interrelated dimensions.
  • Reverse engineer complex tools and fixtures as needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs to ensure tools remain in optimal working condition.
  • Test and adjust tools and fixtures to meet precise specifications for size, shape, and tolerance.
  • Work with various materials, including sheet metal, aluminum, plastics, and alloys.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Stand for extended periods during work hours.
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and precision.
  • Lift and maneuver heavy objects as required.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 10 (Ten) years of experience in the trade of manufacturing tool development.
  • Proficient in shop mathematics, including trigonometry, blueprint reading, and reverse engineering of complex tools.
  • Able to provide own shop tools and perform tasks to shop standards with minimal supervision.
  • Proven experience working with a variety of materials, including metals, alloys, plastics, and ceramics.
  • Must be a dependable team player.
  • Able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Extensive knowledge of conventional machining techniques.
  • AWS certified welding experience.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of materials, including metals, alloys, plastics, and ceramics.


Compensation Data

Compensation Pay Range: $33.79/hr - $39.98/hr
