Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Biostatistics

The Department of Biostatistics in the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work (RSCPHSW) at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, FL, seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work at Florida International University is ranked by U.S. News & World Report No.1 in South Florida amongst public and private schools of public health and 35th amongst all public universities nationwide. The college also ranks 12th in NIH funding in public universities by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. The Department of Biostatistics PhD program ranks among the top 50 for public universities in the US based on the News and World Reports. Stempel College is located in Miami, a vibrant and multi-cultural city near beautiful Miami Beach and the world-famous Florida Keys. Miami is the gateway to Latin America and the world.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum required: a doctoral degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Statistical Data Science or related field.

Preference will be given to applicants with a promising record of applied and methodological publications; experience in consulting with other researchers; evidence of effective teaching; and the ability to work with diverse teams of colleagues. Preference will also be given to candidates with experience in applied public health or clinical research who have strong theoretical foundation with expertise in statistical computing, multivariate methods and Bayesian inference.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities for this faculty position include teaching several graduate courses per year and supervision of both master and doctoral level students; collaborative and applied research mainly with faculty in health sciences (including assistance with grant applications and data analysis on funded grants); methodological research leading to peer-reviewed publications and grant funding; consulting within the FIU Center for Statistical Consulting and Collaboration (FIU-STATCONSULT statconsult.fiu.edu); and providing other academic services to the Stempel College and FIU.
