Job Summary:
This position manages all day to day supply chain operations, from initial requisition to final delivery to customer in an efficient and effective manner. This includes directing the purchasing of supplies, equipment and services for Mary Washington Healthcare as well as receipt, delivery, storage and delivery of supplies to all customers in a cost-effective and value-driven manner. In addition this position will facilitate value analysis and contract management programs.
The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental philosophy and goals, and assists all Materials Management supervisors in maintaining the highest degree of operational performance and customer satisfaction.
The Supply Chain Manager supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives of Mary Washington Healthcare and demonstrates a commitment of quality service to our patients and their families, the community, the physicians, and our Associates.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Manages the daily operation of logistics functions, which include: Associate assignment(s) and scheduling; preparing, managing and overseeing the department's operating budget.
- Manages the recruitment, selection, orientation, retention, training, promotion, discipline, and performance of Associates. Conducts performance appraisals and oversees professional development for Associates.
- Maintains records, logs and reports appropriate to the function.
- Manages the efficient and effective procurement and delivery of high quality goods, equipment and services to all clinical and non-clinical departments within Mary Washington Healthcare. Shares staffing resources as necessary to insure all department responsibilities are met.
- Utilizes Materials Management Information System (Infor) to manage all inventory, shipping and receiving transactions; ensure high degree of inventory accuracy.
- Demonstrates a high degree of knowledge and understanding of products, equipment and inventory including ordering, receipt, storage, returns and distribution.
- Develops, implements and monitors purchasing, receiving and distribution policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with leadership in the creation of goals and annual plans; contributes to the department strategic plan. Manages Associates and resources to accomplish goals and annual plans that support both department and organizational strategies.
- Ensures all orders comply with policy including appropriate approvals.
- Resolves all invoice, receipt of goods and vendor issues in a timely manner. Responsible for managing suppliers.
- Serves as a resource to the Clinical Resource Coordinator regarding clinical supplies, product evaluations, conversions and co-chairs the Value Analysis Committee. Meets or exceeds total cost savings goals.
- Manages the day-to-day collaboration between the Materials Management Department and all customers, maintaining a positive and effective working relationship. Serves as a liaison between nursing staff and Material Support Agents.
- Collaborates to resolve conflicts promptly and to continuously improve services and increase efficiencies between all departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or Business preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in one of the following industries: Logistics, Materials Management, Operations or Supply Chain, required.
- A minimum of three years of experience leading Customer Support Operation, Inventory Control, or Warehouse Operations required.
- A minimum of five years of experience in a management position required.
- Three years of experience in a fast paced, high velocity, critical distribution center or warehouse environment required.
- A minimum of five years of combined experience in either shipping and receiving, inventory control, internal & external distribution required.
- Experience supervising multi-site/location operations required.
- Valid Virginia driver's license with acceptable driving record required.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills and negotiation skill required.
- Healthcare and experience with medical supplies and equipment preferred.
- Experience with Asset Management & Inventory technologies, to include bar coding, preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience managing Document Center and Mail Room operations preferred.
- Fleet management or courier operations experience preferred.
- Master's degree preferred.
- AHRMM, ISM, or APICS professional certification in purchasing or materials management preferred.
