The Southwestern Veterans' Center, part of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, is seeking an individual to join our team in delivering food service within our long-term care facility dedicated to veterans and their spouses.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Food Service Workers at the Southwestern Veterans' Center engage in essential tasks related to meal preparation and the maintenance of cleanliness in food preparation and serving areas. Their responsibilities encompass a variety of activities, including the thorough cleaning and sanitization of kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, and work surfaces. Additionally, they are involved in preparing meal trays, accurately measuring food portions, serving meals, and efficiently transporting trays, carts, and nourishment items. The role also requires the use of various kitchen equipment, such as mixers, dicing machines, slicers, knives, and grinders, to ensure that food is prepared safely and effectively.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour work week
  • Work hours will be determined from the following shifts, with rotating holidays and weekends, and a 30-minute lunch break.
    • 2nd shift: 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Previous experience as a food service worker

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
