Job Summary: The Labor Planning Director is responsible for optimizing labor utilization, managing workforce planning processes, and ensuring effective staffing levels in support of our stores. This role will collaborate closely with field leaders, HR, and other operational team members to align labor strategies with business objectives, ensuring efficiency, cost control, and superior customer service across our store locations. This role will analyze workforce trends, forecast labor needs, and implement workforce optimization strategies to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage labor forecasting and scheduling processes to ensure optimal staffing levels across all retail stores, aligning with sales, traffic, and operational needs.
- Lead the creation of annual labor budgets, ensuring compliance with labor costs, and KPIs while driving cost-saving initiatives and maximizing labor efficiency across the organization
- Analyze workforce productivity, labor trends, and other key metrics to recommend and implement strategies for optimizing workforce efficiency.
- Work closely with field leadership, operations, and HR teams to ensure labor plans align with store performance goals, and address staffing gaps or issues in real-time.
- Utilize workforce analytics and technology to optimize scheduling, productivity, and labor cost management.
- Lead initiatives to improve labor forecasting accuracy and minimize overstaffing or understaffing risks.
- Provide accurate and timely reports to senior leadership on labor performance, staffing trends, and cost-related metrics. Utilize data and analytics to recommend operational improvements and labor strategies.
- Ensure that field teams are trained on labor planning tools, processes, and systems.
- Support the development of labor planning best practices across the organization.
- Leverage and optimize labor management systems (LMS), scheduling software, and other technology solutions to improve planning accuracy, labor cost management, and efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies, including wage and hour laws, union agreements (if applicable), and any other labor-related legal requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for labor planning processes, using data-driven insights to improve overall operational performance, reduce labor costs, and enhance store profitability.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, Human Resources, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in workforce planning, labor forecasting, or HR analytics within the retail industry.
- Strong knowledge of workforce management systems, labor laws, and scheduling software (e.g., Kronos, UKG, ADP, Workday).
- Ability to analyze complex workforce data and translate it into actionable business strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and management skills.
- Experience in a multi-location retail environment is highly preferred
