Your role as the Environmental Scientist:

  • The Environmental Scientist must possess the knowledge, skills and expierence needed to manage the Title V air permit and or Water/Waste Water at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant. Must have training in air, waste, water and other environmental program areas.
  • Prepares reports to meet regulatory requirements and manages voluminous flow of data/communications from various regulatory and/or government agencies to many different levels of the organization and provides required responses and/or actions relating to environmental areas with guidance from the EHS&Fire Director.
  • Performs inspections of the facility to ensure compliance with permit requirements and other environmental requirements. Develops and maintains schedules for inspections and ensures inspections take place Produces and updates reports, responses, environmental assessments and permit applications.
  • Actively interfaces with Government Regulators, Utilities Manager, Engineers, Subcontractors and equipment vendors. Develops plans for meeting requirements and/or coordinates activities to abate, control and prevent pollution with input from the EHS&Fire Director.
  • Prepares permit applications per required operations water, waste water, air and Hazardous non-hazardous waste
  • Support the ISO 9001 and 14001 programs as needed.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Knowledge of regulatory and contractual environmental requirements and regulations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree from four year college or university in engineering or scientific field, ideally Environmental Science preferred
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 3-year Experience preferred
  • Ability to pass a physical exam, drug screening, and background check
  • Ability to receive government secret clearance
  • Hazwoper 40 hour training preferred
  • Great attitude and team player!
