https://health.uark.edu/mental-health/index.php Summary of Job Duties:The Embedded Mental Health Clinician will provide direct clinical services to students pursing degrees in the College of Engineering with an emphasis on individual and group counseling, workshops, emergency mental health services and outreach focused prevention efforts. Indirect clinical services will include administrative consultations internal to College of Engineering and Counseling and Psychological Services, staff meetings, clinical disposition activities, outreach meetings, coordination of specific area (e.g. group, outreach, training, embedded, eating disorders, etc.); maintain licensure in the state of Arkansas in relevant discipline; clinical documentation, training and supervision of CAPS clinical trainees, and general administrative responsibilities. The Embedded Mental Health Clinician is a representative of CAPS and serves as a key member of Engineering One-Stop (EOS), a comprehensive program empowering engineering students to achieve academic excellence, personal growth, and persistence by providing holistic support and delivering strategic outreach tailored to their needs. The position will focus on integrating mental health services with existing EOS programs and initiatives and advocating awareness for the link between mental health and academic success (e.g., GPA, retention, graduation rates) through training and education.

The position has routine shift hours, infrequent overtime, or shift rotation.

This position holds significant responsibility as a "remote essential" role. In challenging situations such as inclement weather or emergencies, when the Pat Walker Health Center, assigned academic building or campus needs to close, our dedicated team of CAPS professionals will be on standby to serve our campus community's needs through telehealth if deemed appropriate for telehealth services.

The decision to continue with telehealth sessions will depend on various factors, including the nature of the mental health concern, client preference, and the availability of resources. Our primary goal is to ensure that the UA community has access to quality mental healthcare even during unexpected closures.

To be fully prepared for such events, all staff members must take their UA issued laptops home nightly during the work week and each weekend. This way, they can readily assist with client access and telehealth services if CAPS is unexpectedly closed during the following business day. By functioning cohesively as a team, CAPS staff will ensure that counseling services remain accessible to our UA community with each team member sharing this responsibility equally.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in social work, counselor education, clinical or counseling psychology, or a related fieldfrom an accredited institution of higher education

Applicable equivalencies may be considered for the above qualifications.

  • State of Arkansas license for independent practice in social work, counselor education, clinical or counseling psychology or a related field (LPC, LCSW, or fully licensed LP)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education in social work, counselor education, clinical or counseling psychology, or a related fieldfrom an accredited institution of higher education

  • At least three or more years of experience in the evaluation and treatment of individuals whose age and psychological development are similar to traditional and non-traditional college students

  • Experience working within brief models of care, as evidenced in application materials

  • Experience and interest in providing outreach presentations and group work, as evidenced in application materials

  • Experience in the field of college mental health including working with college students in an embedded counseling program

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Public speaking and facilitation skills

  • Ability to commitment to working with and contributing to a multi-disciplinary and multi-theoretical team providing culturally attuned services and training

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Ability to work with a diverse college-aged population

  • Ability to work well in crisis situations

  • Ability to work an occasional flexible and varied schedule including evening hours

Additional Information:

This position is renewable annually based on continued need for the position, availability of funding, and satisfactory job performance.

Salary Information:

$71,000 - $74,000 (Commensurate with education and experience)
